Laces Boutique: R.I.P. : (
Stores, SneakersSomeone yesterday mentioned to me that Laces, the New York female sneaker boutique had lost its Nike account, and then I saw the news today on Racked that it's officially closed.
Retail is a tough business and I give Louis Colon, who opened Laces two years ago, props for having the balls to give it a shot. He was up against a lot from the very start. Beyond women just being a lot less dedicated to kicks than men, he didn't get a lot of support from the major sneaker companies, who to this day play like Mr. Big when it comes to committment to the female customer.
Store or no store, Louis remains a very good guy so we here at HighSnobette expect that he will recover quickly from this minor setback and be on to the next project.
Much love and props + sending some beer spillage in Lace's direction,
