Nike Launches The Studio Wrap Yoga Shoe
With the launch of the Studio Wrap, Nike introduces a better-than-barefoot experience in a three-part footwear system (wrap, ribbon and flat) made for yoga and pilates workouts. This innovation is not only functional and comfortable but is also very stylish. Designer Geogina James and Ann-Marie Fallow spent about two years on the research and development before the final Studio Wrap was presented last week. The Yoga shoes will be available in Spring 2013.

When asked what fashion designer they’d like to collaborate with on a special edition of the Studio Wrap, the designers answered that Marc Jacobs would be their first choice. Could be a nice one!

Take a more detailed look and see images from our first yoga class wearing the Studio Wrap on the next page.

Nike 36-Hour Experience – Recap

Nike 36 h experience recap 3 Nike 36 Hour Experience Recap
Nike invited me to a “36-hour experience” in Berlin to not only show off its latest products but to put me – along with a number of other journalists and bloggers from around Europe – in the hot seat.

Women’s marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe led us in a warm-up and gave us a motivational talk before setting out on a rave run through Tiergarten that finished in a venue where the new Flyknit One was presented. Along with a special morning yoga session the next day, we got the unique opportunity to test drive the Nike Studio Wrap, the world’s first yoga shoe, hitting stores in Spring 2013.

Afterwards, a powerful #NTC workout class with track and field sprint record holder Allyson Felix was held, setting the tone for an active 2013. Later that day, during the course of a showcase at Spindler und Klatt (an old warehouse next to the Spree river), the Nike Spring/Summer 2013 collection, as well as the new Air Max One and the Air Max 2013 were presented making the sports activities of the day totally worth it. Knowing what sports gear awaits us next season, I am definitely motivated to keep the level of fitness I reached over the past two days!

Check out some images of the event on the next page.

Lululemon Athletica: Be Very Careful!

03 September 2008, 17.07 | Posted in Stores | No comments »

I’ve been hearing about yoga/activewear Lululemon for a while now. Samia has raved about their ability to design and other people have hyped them up to me, too. But since I’m a blogging-induced hermit, I haven’t had a chance to go check out the New York store. However, while visiting Vegas for Magic, I finally got to visit a Lulu store. Everyone was right. It’s awesome! The design, the color, the pattern, the padded workout bras, they’re all great. The one thing is, it is NOT cheap (tho in fairness it’s not super expensive either) so I’m warning, if you are a jockella or you just like a cute pair of jogging shorts DO.NOT.GO.TO.LULU unless you pockets are fat or your credit card is open for business. ^^Two jackets from  the website, which, frankly doesn’t do the clothing justice. Besides which, you can’t buy it online anyway. You can only purchase at the stores.

Camilla Ehlke’s Breathe Inn: The Creativity Continues

21 August 2008, 15.23 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

When Samia posted about the Ladies Lotto event, she mentioned that Camilla Ehlke was the speaker. Those of you who know this biz well, know that Camilla as founder of Triple5 Soul was one of the pioneers of the modern day streetwear movement. She no longer owns the company (and pointed out during the talk that the company web site has been stripped of any reference to her!), but her penchent for creating and blazing trails didn’t end with Triple5.

Samia also linked to her latest venture, Breathe Inn, a bread and breakfast located in the the Catskill Mountains of New York, and I just wanted to focus in on it a little more in this post because it truely is a neat-o place and is one of those ventures that makes so much sense that you look at it and think, duh, why didn’t I think of that??

Breathe Inn Camilla Ehlkes Breathe Inn: The Creativity Continues

^^One of the rooms at Breathe-Inn. This is the Sunny Corner Room. While there, you can hike, do yoga, eat organic food cooked up by Ehlke’s partner and husband, Chef Marlon Aitchenson, and think, dammit, I wish MY room looked liked this!

And Ehlke and Aitchenson aren’t stopping there. There are plans in the works–after a certain baby is born–to open other locations internationally. Amazing, right?
