For Spring 2013, SUPRA drops a selection of iconic silhouettes in a collection of footwear specifically designed for women. Vibrant color ways and luxurious materials make the sneakers look striking sexy while keeping a feminine touch. The accompanying look book gives you some inspiration how to wear them best. This is probably my  all time fave  tee by Hellz Bellz , the women’s iconz tee where Lanie Alabanza Barcena highlights some of the noteworthy women who made their mark  in our  culture. A few we could identify: Sade, Debbie Harry, Vivienne Westwood, Ertha Kitt, Gabrielle’Coco” Chanel, Grace Jones…Making this a must have. Launched in 2002 , IHTGW ( I have to go work) by Samia Malik challenges some ideas and flaws of our society with the creation of what what I would call modern symbols. Just like the peace ‘cnd’ sign  by Gerald Holtom(1958) I see in Malik’s work what could be the  symbols of a new era  .

Here’s a look at two of  Malik’s  main collection: No Class an ongoing collection ” based on eradicating class systems, status symbols and racism. ” and ‘Race Against Race’, which is a statement  against the tireless race often run with no real goal than just to run . Here’s a sneak peek into  Erin Magee’s Made Me Autumn/Winter ‘09 collection where she highlnghts the talented folks  behind the scenes including our own Radio Rose.  The collection from what we can see , will feature printed leather jackets, studded denim  and  quintessential grunge elements like  the plaid shirt.  Available in august, Can’t  wait! video by Manny Torro. via Misscrew & Made Me’s blog.

Here’s a look at Claw Money’s Spring/Summer Lookbook. Titled “Welcome to the Jungle”  The collection features Claw’s  signature graphics as well as a her interpretation  of animal graphics that go from menacing sharks to colorful butterflys. Shot by Danielle Levitt at downtown, NYC  hotspot Sway the look book resembles  a  fun  partywhere the  attendees and the DJ ( Roxy Cottontail) just all happen to be rocking ClawMoney.

For f/w 08 MaMa takes us from the fourties to the  era of" lo riders" and the west coast.I know we don’t feature cars on Highsnobette,but I see these girls riding a Chevelle(my fave) and listening, to Snoop’s laid back( can you tell I watch too many movies?)

Anyway,Gabriella Davi-Khorasanee  and her team have done it again with a collection whose inspiration is clear ,fun,classy and definitely MaMa.

Obey Women’s  Spring 09 put a big grin on my face,when I visited them last week,the line is what I call fresh,fun and surprisingly dressy & sexy… There was nothing in that line that I could not wear…I have been playing with the term streetwear and its relevancy to this brand, and what I came up with is that the term street wanted to claim a certain authenticity to a lifestyle and an ideaology.

 Obey has stayed true to that and has given their women the option to sass it up a bit…Its’ hot enough to rock on the dance floor but still comfortable to hang in the hood…Make it what you like ,Fashion and Streetwear are about individuality!
