We first noticed the white shoe trend at Alexander Wang, who showed no less than three versions of white shoes (above), but then the look continued to pop up on runway after runway, on silhouettes ranging from pointy-toed pumps to minimalist wedges and menswear-inspired loafers. And while yes, the trend was mostly concentrated among designers who target the young and hip, in truth it was fairly transcendent and looks to be one of if not the most unifying theme of New York’s spring 2012 runways. And it’s nothing stopping in NYC. From the looks of London fashion week, the white shoe trend is hitting big there, too, starting with no less than Burberry.

In what is probably his strongest if not most distinctive collection yet, Alexander Wang for Spring 2012 catches print fever (inspired perhaps a bit by Rodarte and Prada Spring 2011?) and adds newness and electricity with activewear-inspired silhouettes–done to perfection because it’s a style aesthetic that has always been a backbeat for the line.

And yet, as strong as the clothes were, the white shoes he showed….just, oh my. And the truth is while it pains me a bit because white shoes have always been my secret, private signature and now they’re exploded all over a major runway for all the copiers to follow, nonetheless, these are a major must-own.

 The funny aspect of having your  fave things in style is when they become trends and all of a sudden you see “how-to” features on how to achieve a look or wear a certain piece. Dame SJP is seen here rocking pretty awesomely a pair of white pumps which has been co-Snobette Lois’ thing like forever. First time ever I spotted Jess Biel as Mary Camden on cult fave 7th Heaven, I fell in love with her sky-high cheekbones and perfect face. Since then, I still like her ’cause she’s sporty, seems a little bad girlish, has a great sense of style AND appreciates a fat booty! Basically my formula for a great woman. Here she is at a recent film event, looking cute:

You guys don’t know this but I have such a thing for white shoes and own many pairs. I keep expecting to get over my obsession, but it’s been on going for at least a few years now.  I mean what’s not to like?? White matches with everything! And yeah, black does, too, but it just doesn’t set off a pair of dark jeans or a dress of any color like white does.
