Need an Obama tee-shirt refesh? Vogue editor Anna Wintour came up with the clever plan to raise money for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign by asking her designer pals to come up with a lower-than-normally-priced tee-shirt (or tote bag, or scarf) to be sold on a sub-section of Obama’s campaign site, called Runway To Win. And they all come in a full range of sizes….imagine that, a Marc Jacobs tee in XXXL!
Featured designers include Marc Jacobs, Joseph Altuzurra, Tory Burch, Diane Von Furstenberg, Prabal Gurung, Joseph Altuzarra, Prabal Grunung, Tracy Reese (above), and others, with Alexander Wang’s ”coming soon.”
The CFDA in partnership with Vogue awarded Joseph Altuzurra, the winner of its fund prize last week and lots of fashion folks turned out for the event. Above in a study of contrasts is actress Rooney Mara and CFDA presidente, Diane Von Furstenberg.
After the flip see additional images of Vera Wang, Tory Burch, Zac Posen, Rachel Roy, Francisco Costa, Olivier Theyskens, Alexander Wang, Billy Reid, Jason Wu, Kate & Laura Mulleavy, Brooklyn Decker, Liya Kebede, Zoe Kravitz, Anna Wintour and tons more.
Tory Burch styles her holiday 2011 offerings in a lookbook and while both of the outfits on this page are dark hued, as is Burch’s penchant the color scheme leans towards lightness with a mix of fabrics like fur, velvet and wool used to tell the seasonal story.
Tory Burch Rachel Zoe* does her usually deft job of creating a collection that seamlessly ranges from youthful looks for her contemporary customer to cocktail-party and office ready for her women-of-a-certain age fans. The theme as reflected in the feel of the shoot itself, is for the most part fluidity and long lean lines, jazzed by shades of blue, purple and rose. Via TFS.
*A reader informs that this lookbook is Rachel Zoe not Tory Burch. Funny, looking at the original post at TFS I was thinking that the styling had a Zoe feel and there were a couple of items where I was like, since when did Tory go goth?? But oh well, that is the nature of blogging for you–sometimes you make those major mistakes that make you look like an idiot. It happens.
A lot of labels are beginning to deliver their summer collections, with Tory Burch previewing hers in a Summer lookbook. A lot of what Burch designs can be described as Upper East Side Bohemia (which we don’t view as a bad thing–au contraire!) though she does turn that formula on its head sometimes, drops the airs and goes for straight fierceness, case in point these “Tarlen” rope wedges we spotted in the lookbook…love the red wedge against the thick ropes tipped with shiney, gold aglets.
We’ve already featured and given high Snob praise to Tory Burch’s Pre-Autumn lookbook, and now we get some added images, which came out of a recent viewing for editors. What you see here are the looks which were received the most enthusiastically. Click through to the next page for more.
Tory Burch, whose shoes and bags are always high on the Snobette fave list, receives more mixed reviews when it comes to her clothes. Influenced by a combination of bohemia and high society, we always like her more when the hippies win the design battle in her head, as it appears they did for her pre-Autumn 2011 collection. More looks after the flip.
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards took place last night with menswear designer Billy Reid the winner. The red carpet was the most interesting part and as always we’ve highlighted our faves. On this page we have a ying and yang situation with the Olsen twins on one side, decked as they often are as of late in lots of fur and Chanel Iman on the other side, looking summery and still working her super tight, post Victoria’s Secret runway bod. On the next page Kim Kardashian, Keri Hilson, Christina Ricci, Blake Lively, Carey Mulligan, Diane Von Furstenberg and Tory Burch who came with her sweetie, Lyor Cohen (which I have a hard time wrapping my head around but okay).
Tory Burch did a presentation of her Spring 2011 line and the videographer covers each and every outfit. Burch loosened up a bit with her resort collection, but for Spring she went back to channeling her prim side. The camera also heads backstage and pans over shoes and accesories, plus there’s an interview with Tory Burch and Kanye, flashing his new grill.
