Being a Snobette in our definition is  in many ways  about loving the authenticity in style and fashion in all its quality,  creativity and even quirkiness. While fast fashion mega brands have been praised with democratizing fashion, we often wish the offerings were more unique/original and did not get “inspired” by talented creatives who create lust-worthy pieces with originality and sass.  A few years back we noticed Madewell’s “love” of A PeaceTreaty and recently, the cool ladies of Sixsixsickgirls bring to our attention Topshop’s Nail tip ring, which clearly is a rendition of the famed Bijules nail ring. All we have to say is why? Why not create something unique?

WAH Nails is once again collaborating with TopShop, the first time was with a pop-up nail bar in the Oxford store, and now a permanant set up in the chain’s Stratford City location. As part of the celebration around the event, WAH has teamed up with Minx on a “Golden Tribe” design (above) that will be exclusive to the Oxford store. Says the awesome founder of WAH Nails, Sharmadean Reid:

“Our company is all about pushing the boundaries of what can be applied on the nail with polish and we are excited to take this even further with the innovative techniques that only Minx can achieve. Our tribal design, first developed in 2009 is now taken to new levels with Minx’s metallic foils.”

After making my forever longed for visit to Valley Salon for a manicure (will be posting a feature later that includes an interview with co-owner Julia) I took a stroll around SoHo to snap some shots of storefronts. It was a super sunny day, which is not the best for photographing glass, but ehh, I want to make this a regular feature so I went with what I could get to get the ball moving. 

What’s surprising is how crummy some of the windows are and not just because they need a good wash. Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu were fantastic (as they usually are),  and I especialy admired how the LV window recalled themes from the Spring 2010 show.  But given their usually impeccable runway presentations, I was a little disappointed by Chanel and very disappointed by Burberry.

Clearly ‘Inspired’ by what some of our fave labels have been doing,  sequined sarouels, bustle jackets, even pointy shoulders, The Topshop lookbook almost wins us over. The thigh high boots look amazing but then again one has to see, touch and feel to believe. Topshop is still a fast fashion label and we know that great styiling can work miracles. Here’s another image from opening night at the NY TopShop launch party, where we get a peak of the shoe offerings. I’m not overwhelmed by what I’m what I’m seeing here, people.  Then again, I am super picky about my shoes in that I will spend money I don’t have to obtain ones that both standout from a design perspective and use high quality materials.

Btw, the guy in the image is Sir Philip Green, who owns TopShop and is INSANELY wealthy. According to Wiki, he is Britain’s seventh richest man! I wonder if that includes Queenie??

The celebs came out last night to attend the opening of TopShop in Manhattan. Our fave (from a style perspective) ”Gossip Girl,” Taylor Momsen attended a VIP dinner at Balthazar, dressed in a cropped leather jacket paired with a bright pink skirt. Sultry and sexy!
