Video Ad: Azealia Banks For T By Alexander Wang

27 July 2012, 12.55 | Posted in Music, advertisement, celebrity | No comments »

Following in the footsteps of Santigold, Spank Rock and Die Antwoord, Azealia Banks is the new face of T by Alexander Wang for Autumn 2012, kicked off with a video that includes the Harlem rapper performing her single “Van Vogue” from her leak-all-over-the-place EP 1991. Earlier this year, Banks and Wang attended the Met Gala together. One has to hope this signals a move in a more productive direction for Banks who despite her talent has stumbled quite a bit out of the gate.

And yes, this is for the fellas, but like that’s ever stopped us from stealing before! The collection will be available at Bloomingdales and will be launched tonight in conjunction with FNO.

We’ve been feeling somewhat underwhelmed by T By Alexander Wang, but the Autumn 2011 lookbook shows some sass, with new fabrications and cuts, including slouchy maxi coats perfect for the chill of Autumn and the perfect trousers for now. Still, other than a few key items, we’re not sure there’s a reason to buy from this line other than the fun that might come with seeing the label hanging in your closet, which, we can relate! Through his lower-priced T line, Alex Wang hooks up his girls with the looks that made him famous. All the basics are here with some slight variations on the themes. However, given how many brands have followed him down this path, it could have benefited Wang to be a little less safe, or rather create a few items that clearly can be identified as being his and his alone. This is why in part women are choosing shoes and bags as their signature pieces. Short of a logo, lots of brands’ apparel offerings can barely be distinguished from the lower-priced wannabees.
