Margiela (1)
We had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Maison Martin Margiela’s Spring 2012 women’s collection last week and had to share the vision of some show stopping footwear. The collection comprises the very coveted Margiela sneakers, fun pvc booties, fringe styles that made our heart putter patter, linen split toe ballerinas and much more . Take a closer look on the flip. All images by Highsnobette.

RachelZoe 540x405 Rachel Zoe Sky High Wedges + Flats Spring 2012

More from our showroom visits, this time it’s looks from stylist Rachel Zoe’s spring 2012 line. We feature some sky-high wedges here but there’s a pair of flat sandals on the next page, along with some tops and dresses. The Snob jury is very much divided on Zoe–luv her reality show a lot, but meh, not ready to accept her as more than just a celebrity stylist.

Opening Ceremony Lookbook Spring 2012

OC SS12 08 360x540 Opening Ceremony Lookbook Spring 2012

This Opening Ceremony lookbook shot by Tim Barber brings to mind a quote in Elle magazine’s October issue by creative director Joe Zee, who in a story on various looks, declared, ”I’m not a big fan of the peasant top–it’s just sloppy. And boho chic is done.” And clearly OC is in agreement, showing a collection for Spring 2012 that’s clean, minimalist, largely monotone and pretty much the opposite of earthy.

Louis Vuitton Bags Spring 2012

LouisVuittonSpring2012 (6)

Louis Vuitton as steered by Marc Jacobs remains more firmly committed than ever to a ladylike posture, showing a collection of Spring 2012 bags that exuded proper society girl. Though unlike the more devious-feeling Autumn 2012 presentation, this time the prissy viewpoint of the bags was further supported by a backdrop of fashion that included Southern-belle-lunch-worthy skirts and dresses, classic mule silhouettes and even parasols (not to mention a carousel upon whose horses the girls sat side saddle)! The only naughtiness that could be seen for miles was a Louis Vuitton flask….meant to be hidden in an LV bag no doubt, perfect for getting one through life’s little dark moments–though sipped discretely of course! Miu Miu does it again, creating a collection of shoes and accessories for Spring 2012 featuring designs that are rooted in vintage-girl charm, boosted to the heavens by silhouettes and patterns, which while often borderline over the top, make them immediately identifiable and for label lovers therefore highly covetable. Kanye Dw Collection Brings Out The High School In Fashion Community

AnnaDelloRussoAlexanderMcQueen 540x412 Kanye Dw Collection Brings Out The High School In Fashion Community

It’s been quite the popcorn-muncher post Kanye West’s Dw runway show, held during Paris Fashion Week over this past weekend. Besides mixed reviews, which seemed to be most focused on ill-fitting clothes (which, btw, happens all the time on runways–even with designers with years of experience but is rarely pointed out in reviews) and him cursing during the toast at his own (private) party, the ripples kept coming from his debut show four days later.

First there was Anna Dello Russo (above) wearing head-to-toe Dw to the Alexander McQueen show, then Susie Bubble weighing in and relating back to her own experiences as an outsider (”Walking into a show and having eyes stare at you wondering why you’re even there is something that I’m well used to and on a universally larger scale, before even having put a stitch out, the jury was already out on West’s collection judging by the numerous malicious comments.”), followed by Anna Wintour saying “Ask someone else,” when interviewed about the show and our most favorite yet in terms of high school levels of entertainment value, a NY Times columnist dressing down West for sitting one of the Olsen sisters too near to Lindsay Lohan ’cause the Olsens have somehow paid their dues in fashion while Lindsay almost caused the collapse of Ungaro. Too funny or rather, #seriously?

Our opinion remains the same–some of it was good and let’s wait and see what happens and if he has it in him to go long haul. That being said–goodness this man has the power to make people chatter! He’s known for it in the music world and he’s carried that quality over to fashion and at the very least we’re all certainly more entertained for it.
