24 April 2013, 16.15 | Posted in nail art | 5 comments »

SophyDiscoHS (6)

We’ve long loved nail artist Sophy Robson and were super excited to cover a recent “Master Class” event in London she organized with the goal of educating both aspiring and established nail artists.  The event included instruction by Robson and the much-admired Japanese nail artist Disco Nails (aka Nagi) who works from her salon, Disco Nails in Shibuyo, Japan. In other words, two of the world’s most talented nail artists, what a gift for attendees!

Check out more images from the event after the fold, plus a video. All pics & coverage by Amina Khan for HighSnobette.

Amelina Anna ‘Monroe’ Manicure

AmelinaAnna

Nail artist Amelina Anna  has deemed this patented nail shape the “Monroe.” It’s featured here in a shoot for Scratch magazine. Anna works out of salon in Kiev, Ukraine, called French Guru Nails, whose very awesome tagline is “We Know How To Seduce Men.” In a q & a interview on the site, Anna gives her thoughts on current nail trends and shares some of those seduction secrets:

Q: Matching nails with lip colour, what’s your verdict?
A: Everything should be matched! Not only lips and nails, because you can match the colour of clothes, shoes, eye colour and much more.
Q: We’ve seen the talon and the square or oval, but which nail shape do you think is the most flattering?
A: Of course, Monroe! It’s much stronger than the square one and sexier than oval one. This form excites men’s imagination!

We spotted this on Sosoflynails, run by boss U.K. nail artist Sophy Robson, who can’t decide which is hotter–the nails or the eyebrows….we can’t either!

Sophy Robson: NYFW Vs. LFW Nail Art…It’s On!

Joy Cioci Spring 2012

Super bad nail artist Sophy Robson via her new Tumbler, Sosoflynails, natch, has been observing and commenting on the NYFW nail art scene and these “Lucite” nail from Joy Cioci’s show were the first to impress her. However, judging from this quote…

“Wow finally an interesting look at #NYFW! …..designer Joy Cioci showed some love to nail art by showing clear lucite tips covered in white lace. Not bad but lets see what London has to offer next week.”

….we get the feeling she thinks London Fashion Week is going to throw down all over NYFW where nail art is concerned. In which case…it’s on London! We’ll be watching to see what you all bring to the table. No pressure, ladies! ; )

Video: Sophy Robson London Salon Opening Party

30 June 2011, 19.02 | Posted in Music, nail art | No comments »

Nail artist Sophy Robson held a party celebrating the opening of her very first salon on Kings Road in London recently, and the above is a video of the salon interior and the party. (Way to go, woman!) If you’re keeping up, you’ll notice the soundtrack is none other than Kreayshawn’s “Bumpin, Bumpin.” And I’m probably prejudiced, but it’s been my observation (confirmed in this video) that tight nail game almost always equals overall fly style. Not that you can’t be stylish without done nails, but just that you have a higher chance of falling on the not side.

Henry Holland As Inspired By Neneh Cherry’s ‘Buffalo Stance’

Kudos to Henry Holland, for using the music and styling from Neneh Cherry’s much-loved ”Buffalo Stance” video to inspire both the brand’s presentation and Pre-Spring 2012 collection. Presentation aside, the fashion happens to be pretty great, too, featuring a lot of stripes that feel Rasta inspired, but as though living on 5th Ave. NYC, as opposed to the island of Jamaica.

The model is Eliza Cummings and check out a screen capture of the stripey nail art on the next page, with credit going to ultra-talented nail artist Sophy Robson .

“No money man can win my love, it’s sweetness that I’m thinking of…..”

SophyRobsonNailArt 540x405 Sophy Robson Nail Art

Sophy Robson has recently been posting up some amazing nail art images on her site. Clearly she has a gift for the craft, with not only an eye for color and what’s fashionable now, but also crafting designs that are meticulously applied and look great on the nail. Which is tricky as nails provide a very small canvas and they’re sitting at the end of a set of hands so while the design idea in your head may look amazing, once applied it can appear entirely different. This design was done for nail art devotee Katy Perry. See more at Robson’s site.

Designer Giles Deacon of Ungaro chose to make quite the bold statement with with a red talon manicure, featured on the models who walked his Paris Fashion Week Autumn 2011 runway show. These images come courtesy of nail designer Sophy Robson’s blog so I’m assuming she was in charge of nail art duties at the show.

KateMimosa More Gap Nail Art

Found this gap nail art on Kate Mimosa’s site (”I love laughing, Beyonce, drinking, shopping, $$$, and gold”<—–we’re right there with you, woman!) via U.K. nail artist Sophy Robson, who says about this design of which she is the orginator, ”This is def the new look,” and yep, we’re all over that, and are itching to go out and get some extensions just so we can sport it in time for Valentine’s Day! Via Lacquerista. (On a side note, does the hand belong to accessory designer Melody Ehsani??)
