If you have not yet seen the fabulous image image of Obama by Shepard Fairey, The mastermind behing Obey ,you have to take a look! This image has been everywhere at least in NYC and on zillions of tees and buttons.Aside from the campaign involvement Artinfo hints to the notion of street art ,credibility and commercialism through the conglomorate that Shepard Fairey has been able to create through his ObeyGiant  brand/aesthetic.

I happen to believe that done well  one does not have to negate the other, why should you want to remain poor or unsuccessful  to somehow stay honest to your craft.I guess the third world in me can’t get the bohemian refusal of wealth and success that seeems to automatically make some art "legit".Isin’t the power, the ability to make things your own and to use resources as you please?

Anyway, I think Obey Rocks!
