After a long hiatus, Santigold releases a new track and video, “Big Mouth,” produced by Switch & Buraka Som Sistema. Commenters at Youtube are providing feedback ranging from relief she’s returned to knocking the video for its resemblence to MIA’s with a couple wondering if some of the lyrics aren’t a knock on Lady Gaga, which if they are she’s certainly late to that party!

We just posted the full-length version of the Beastie Boy’s “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” video and so charmed were we by the doll who played Santigold, we had to pull stills. On this page she’s shown at a concert performance. On the next page get a close up on her mini, three-finger Santigold ring with a matching gold manicure!

The Beastie Boys with some help from Santigold win a bit of a come back with a hot song, “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win,” and a clever video, directed by Spike Jonze, featuring an action story line played out by G.I. Joe dolls. It’s the Beastie Boys so natch it’s a bit on the campy side with the hands manipulating the dolls sometimes showing up in the frame and the special effects intentionally low budget. Keep an eye for added characters including zombie dolls, the abominable snowman and a killer shark. Basically a revisit to juvenile days gone by, a place where the group is always at its best.

Alexander Wangs takes an edgier and more colorful direction for his latest T By Alexander Wang ad campaign, featuring Santigold and Spankrock. The music in the video above is backed by a remix of Santigold’s single “Go,” introduced for the first time via this campaign. Via Style.

For all of you turtored in love on the regular, a song that will be hard not to relate to: “Don’t Play No Game I Can’t Win,” from Beastie’s Boy’s featuring Santigold, from the upcoming album, “Hot Sauce Committee Part Two.” And I didn’t notice this until just now I visited her Twitter page, but as of last month, Santigold is under Roc Nation Management. Ha, no wonder she’s saying she’s in need of a vacation!

We covered the collaboration between Vans and Brooklyn-born singer Santigold and now Vans has more info about the launch on its site, including locations where the shoes can be purchased, plus a contest for a free autographed pair. There’s also an interview and here is a taste of some of Santigold’s responses:

Vans: Who is your favorite designer right now?
Santigold: I usually wear a lot of vintage because it’s such a good feeling when you find something good, that you know no one else has. But Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott have been holding my closet down for the past five years.
Vans: Favorite musicians you grew up admiring?
Santigold: Nina Simone, Devo, The Smiths, Bad Brains.

There isn’t a lot of info accompanying the sneak peek images of  the Vans X Santigold perforated high-tops shown above, just that they have a Spring 2011 launch date. I’m guessing they will be available in other colors, especially given the Spring launch, but we shall see. One more image after the flip, more at Highsnobiety.

Santigold performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami

This is the second image I’ve come across in less than a week’s time that Santigold has been photographed wearing a jumpsuit. She seems to like a baggier sort of fit, which bugs me a little. I could see this as an item to wear during a spring day hanging out in Brooklyn, but not as a performance piece.
