Christopher Kane presented an amazing Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection which included an impressive 61 designs. Looks stayed true to signature looks like velvet dresses, kilts and floral appliqués so now we can put aside fears that’s the label’s purchase by luxury conglomerate PPR will constrain Kane, rather it appears the investment is helping him spread his wings.

Victoria’s Secret runway show took place last night and the list of entertainers who performed was impressive: Nicki Minaj (above), Kanye West (who is obvs LIVING in those black leather pants–lol such a dude thing to do, he probably has 20 pairs), Adam Levine and the king himself, Jay Z. See the fellas on the next page.
Above is a video of the H&M x Versace runway show, which took place last night in New York City. I’m sitting here trying to think of any retailer or brand that does a better job of hyping its collaborations than H&M and I’m drawing a blank. It really is a master at the game. As always the Snobs view it as a big win for budget-minded fashion lovers and H&M, with a more questionable outcome for the brand being collaborated with. It would be so interesting if someone were to investigate the impact these partnerships have a year or so after all the attention has faded. A positive because of all the increased publicity or a negative with the core customer turned off by the down-marketing of a lux brand?
We’ve already provided images from the runway, now watch the video and get a feel for how fun and fabulous the H&M Lanvin “Haute Couture” show was. If nothing else, perhaps this collaboration will put some fun and life back on the runway.
The Victoria’s Secret show had its fair share of celebreties, but not very many editors. Carine Roitfeld, however, was in attendance with Alexander Wang as her plus-one. According to Thecut, the show is Roitfeld’s favorite, which is totally understandable. There’s no pressure to have an opinion, she’s not surrounded by her competitors and with money no object and stating-making themes not the directive, the show is a visual fun feast. And while Roitfeld may like the VS show best, Alex Wang is viewed as No. 1 by Iman, who commented in her recent Bazaar feature, “Alexander Wang is one of my favorites. But he is like my daughter. He is like 12.” More images of Wang, Roifeld and one of Zac Posen after the flip.
We’ve presented the runway finale video and now here are some of the images from the Victoria’s Secret runway show. That’s superstar model Adriana Lima above, who, judging from the images, stood out as as doing the best job of working the format. This company makes sexy lingerie for the masses and this show is not about setting trends as much creating an extravaganza that garners a lot of publicity and sets a tone for the brand. Still, the show felt a bit heavy with the guilded wings, barbells and then topped off with a performance by the very dramatic Katy Perry. As fashion moves in a lighter direction it would have nice to see VS at least give a nod in that general direction. Though in fairness, the pitch is not for snobby editors, but holiday shoppers so if it came off a bit like a Las Vegas showgirl performance that was probably no accident. More images via Wire after the flip.
After lots of build-up we get a look at the finale from last night’s Victoria’s Secret runway show in New York. Given the amazing girls this company has the power to pull, plus the amount of money that is invested in the show, this event has to be a total blast. Still, if you look at the audience, you see there are a ton of guys in part because the company invites a lot of folks from the investment community to this event, as Victoria’s Secret is part of a company traded on Wall Street. Which is probably why thoughts of Las Vegas titty bars keep springing to mind everytime I watch it!
As we mentioned yesterday in a post on Karolina Kurkova, tonight is the big night for the Victoria’s Secret runway show, which will take place in New York. Above is an image of all the top girls, including, in the top row (l-r), Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Lindsay Ellingson, Karolina Kurkova and Jessica Stam; bottom row (l-r), Lily Aldridge, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton, Isabel Goulart, and Selita Ebanks. At Ruffian’s Spring 2011 runway show, the brand showed an updated version of a the moon manicure that’s become a namesake for the brand. Now, in addition to the moon, there’s a matching tip and the Ruffian logo on the ring finger. Creator of the look and CND stylist, Jan Armold told Stylelist, “The boys want to be known for the moon manicure, but each season they want to do something unique and new with the moon.” Vena Cava offered her own version on her runway, see it after the flip.
