We highlighted Rihanna’s manicure for the Grammy Awards last week, and just now I stumbled across a close-up shot. As you can see for yourself they are simply amazing. I can’t quite figure out what the art is, but it looks like some form of currency. It reminds me of a manicure I spotted on the cashier in a McDonald’s drive through a few years back. She had teeny-tiny, shredded-up dollar bills lacquared on to her tips. I almost feinted! I’m telling you, shopping may cheer a girl up, but nothing lifts a heart like glancing down at a freshly polished set of nails.

Beyonce’s three looks (arrival: Stephane Rolland; performance: Versace and audience: Georgio Armani) weren’t my favorites, I actually liked Ciara (Givency with diamonds by Cartier) best, but I did like this image of Bee for her earrings and of course her great manicure. And then, too, the tattoo intriques. What does it read, anyone know?

Overall, there was more fashion eye candy than at the Golden Glodes, which makes sense given it’s a music crowd, but still, I still feel like celebs are playing it safe and it would be nice if they could bring a little more of their performance personalities onto the red carpet.

After the flip, some of the looks I liked the most, on Adrienne Lau, Beyonce, Ciara, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez (Versace), Katy Perry (Zac Posen) and Rihanna (Elie Saab). I thought Taylor Hick’s [Upate: Swift not Hicks!] dress was actually quite beautiful, but I’m still bitter over her being paired to perform with Stevie Nicks, whose level Swift will never come close to approaching, and her winning the best album so I left her out. Who did you guys like?

Cute picture of Katy Perry and RihRih sharing a gut-busting laugh. Perry’s style has me very much on the fence, but I’ve always been awed by her perfect skin. And if you haven’t already, check out Rihanna’s mani! I’m wondering if it’s CalGel, which I’m dying to try!

Rihanna wore a lace Gaultier gown and Nina Ricci shoes on the red carpet for the French NRJ Awards (see her performance of of “Russian Roulette at JustJared.) Her love for edgy fashion still leaps out, but one can’t help but wonder if the ultra-femmy, white lace top isn’t a signal that she’s beginning to shift in a slightly less dark direction.

Our current favorite patron saint of celebrity fashion, Rihanna, is on the cover of the February issue of W, wearing a white Gucci dress (click after the flip to see it). She is profiled in the issue and the reporter takes her stab at sorting out the Chris affair. I would have liked to have seem more about her views on fashion, but I suppose that doesn’t move magazines as well as young-female angst does. We do discover that Rihanna got a new tattoo (sigh!), which reads: “never a failure always a lesson,” and it’s backwards so she can see it in the mirror. And there is line or two devoted to her take on fashion:

“My stylist Mariel Haenn and I always try to do something sexy but never too girly—we always try to put a little toughness in there,” she says. Today she is wearing harem-pant overalls, which she has paired with a black headpiece that can only be described as a hairnet, and which she somehow manages to make look cool. She explains that the line “I’m such a f—in’ lady” from Rated R’s single “Wait Your Turn” has become like a mantra for her, aesthetically and otherwise.

As I am totally blanking out on the designer of this dress, I love the fact that the very ”outré” undone zippers are balanced by a sleek knee length and a high neck line. A closer look at Rihanna a her latest album release  party on the next page via Rihannadaily.

Rihanna peformed at the American Music Awards last night. A bunch of the performers took portraits. Here are a couple of shots from RihRih’s session. I’d say she’s in a kind of can-do-no-wrong phase where her fashion choices are concerned. Ten years from now she’ll be highlighted as a statement maker for this era. What can be said about the fact that she’s yet to make the cover of Vogue other than once again the mag has missed the boat.

Rihanna has been spotted living it up in London recently. Nice to see her enjoying herself for a change.  More importantly, look at the LV drawstring tote she’s sporting! This one is from the Spring 2010 LV collection, which featured the controversial clogs. I am loving the new tassle trend and even though I’ve never been a big drawstring fan, this one has made me a convert, with its ever-so-cute wrist strap and the mix and match of LV leathers featured on the bag.
