Repetto RTW 3 Repetto Launches Ready To Wear Collection

The much anticipated first ready-to-wear collection of French ballet shoe producer Repetto was launched a few days ago. With this first collection Repetto enters the fashion world 70 years after the company was founded. Emilie Luc-Duc created a collection out of finest materials from Italy and France inspired by typical ballet dancer’s clothing but didn’t want to make simple tutus for the street. Instead the collection consists of sleek tops, skirts and dresses in pastel colors. The 18-piece line will be available online starting November 28th and in shops starting December 5th.

Take a look at the collection on the next page.

Balenciaga Fall 2010 RTW: Block Heel Shoes

Balenciaga Fall 2010 RTW: Block Heel Shoes

Balenciaga, the label loved by design fanatics just showed its Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection and what stood out above all else was the color pallette. The shoes featured above should give you a very good feel for the predominant color themes of the collection. Me personally I have never lusted for the big B. I feel likes it’s over my head. As such, I’m not going to annoy the Balenciaga fans with my lackluster comments about the above shoes (images from Style). Perhaps my partner will chime in….

Lamb Fall 2010: What’s in Gwen’s Closet?

GwenFront Lamb Fall 2010: Whats in Gwens Closet?

For the Fall 2010 Lamb collection all the iconic Gwen themes like plaid and military were present and as always, freshened via current silhouettes like one-shoulder tops and harem-influenced bottoms. It’s a sharp, very-ready-to-wear collection.  Clearly Lamb’s issues are not the fashion as it appears on the runway, but more its positioning at retail, where it still seems to be struggling to find a pricepoint that makes sense for its level of cache. It’s never easy to crossover from one lane of success to another (”I’m a rock icon, no wait, a designer!”), though I give Gwen a lot of credit for have more success than most. She is one tough, never-give-up cookie.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Follow-up

mjfront Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Follow up

A little follow-up on the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 ready-to-wear show….on second look at the shoes, I have to admit they are pushing my boundaries. Like I want the fur only to be in the BACK on the shoe, and I’m not sure I like the dressy look of the heels given how sporty the uppers are. That being said, I feel like I’m being moved in a GOOD way, lol, sort of like limits-pushing sex. You may have been a little forced, but your mind fills more expansive for it!

As for the clothes, I think they’re amazing and full of life and optimistic, which is so nice for a change. Judging from the reviews at Style (where all these images are from), they don’t like Louis looking so sporty, but oh well, rules is meant to be broken, ’specially in days like these.

Many more after the flip…

lv Louis V Spring 2010: Officially Off the HINGES!

Dammit, I have to run out, but I just glimpsed at the first images from the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection and it’s ILL. The shoes especially are totally of my be-the-pony fantasies. They’re amazing!! And the hair! OH-EM-GEE, it’s all about the ‘fro-love. Props, props, and more props to Marc. We are so blessed to bear live witness to his creativity.

Rihanna with Weird Muff at Chanel Spring 2010

rhiweirdmuff Rihanna with Weird Muff at Chanel Spring 2010

Rihanna was a Chanel’s Spring 2010 ready-to-wear show. The highlight of her outfit was the fur muff featured here. Which, to be honest, looks like an item one might see being sold on Canal Street. Just ’cause it’s kind of cheap  looking, I mean, is the fur even real? And call me old-fashioned, but I can’t imagine being out and about with a fur muff in the Spring. (Even the word “muff,” it’s got this pervertedness to it, right?)

A couple more of our beloved Rihanna after the flip. We love this woman to pieces, but this outfit isn’t even trying to make it to her top-ten list.

Undercover Autumn 2009: the Slickness!

09 March 2009, 23.09 | Posted in Design, Fashion | No comments »

undercoverfront Undercover Autumn 2009: the Slickness!

The Undercover show, according to Style, took place on a Mylar blanket runway in a forrest in a Japan. There were just two models and supposedly it was cold as all get out, done to highlight the high-tech nature of Jun Takahashi’s fabric choices. According to the article:

“Takahashi hybridizes biker jackets, puffers, parkas, regular tailoring, and knits to produce lightweight jackets and coats, which are lined with membranes and microcapsules developed for NASA. Some of them absorb body heat indoors and then release it when the wearer steps out into colder conditions. Others will block biting windchill, even though they’re ostensibly as flimsy as blazers.”

Not a lot of new ever happens in fashion so I get all excited when I hear about someone trying to push fabric technology forward, as it is one of the last frontiers. Of course it helps that all his designs are just as slick as his space-age fabrics!
