2008 12 zanotti1 Even The Big guys do It too...

I love Racked !They make  some the coolest  retail observations , that retail nerd like me can really get into .Like the fact that Giuseppe Zanotti recently displayed footwear "inspired" by the Rodarte x Nicholas Kirkwood footwear from s/s 09.When does inspiration become outright  copying?

On Michelle Obama’s Style…

 On Michelle Obamas Style...

* Monique Lhuillier sketch via WWD

As far as I can remember, Lady Diana  was probably the one woman in politics/media I remember being excited to see on TV.She had grace and the elegance that made you wonder what she would do next. She was not rocking the edgiest looks but sh e was relevant to the times in her own way.

Michelle Obama is also creating quite a stir,  understandably so,considering that the woman can rock H&M, J.crew,Thakoon, and Narciso Rodriguez, and make it look effortless , elegant and oh so current!

I mean look at her, rocking orange ,showing the curves. If this is not the new "conservative chic" I don’t know what is… This picture is taken from Mrs O, a site devoted to her praiseworthy style and and elegance!

The buzz lately is the Inauguration and the ideas the designers are coming up with, I cannot wait!

Lounge Soho Is Closing!!!

lounge Lounge Soho Is Closing!!!

The  downtown NY retail scene  is one of those "areas" that I know pretty well, having been part of it for way too long.So when Racked posted this am  that Lounge in Soho was closing  this did not come as a surprise.Soho has sadly become an outdoor mall, that I still prefer to midtown any day but on week-ends ,heck no.

To me it was just a matter of time for this retail format to collapse. How do you remain competitive when alot of your brands like Chistian Audigier or Breil ,just to name a few have their owns stores in the ‘hood ? Let’s not forget Bloomies about 3 blocks away as well.So to my future retail moguls  be smart it takes more than a cool store design and a location to stay alive in those economic times, and I’m not even going to talk about business practices, customer service ect…check out the rest of the report from Racked Here

Balenciaga: Open for Business

20 May 2008, 21.57 | Posted in Accessories, Fashion, Shoes, Stores | No comments »

According to the most relentless email updaters on the planet, aka Racked.com, you can now buy Balenciaga online. Can’t say I’m too excited by that news. When I read a while back how broke up Kanye was that they denied him entry to their show, I was like, "Huh? Who the eff are they???" So I’m posting this ’cause I know it’s the cool brand that everyone who’s cool is into. Who knows, maybe I’m just being stoooopid and someone will explain it to me. It wouldn’t be the first time!
