The Carven Spring/Summer collection for 2013 looks fairly grown up. At first view, the cuts and colors seem pretty honest and cute but while taking a closer look, we discovered smart cut-outs in almost every piece. This theme passes the entire collection, from gorgeous lether dresses to mini skirts in baroque style. Guillaume Henry stayed true to himself and again managed to set up a perfect show in the beautiful setting of Le Grand Palais and presented a full collection of just perfect wardrobes. The collection will be available from Opening Ceremony. We’ll keep you posted!

As a tradeshow dedicated to men that are interested in small but qualitatively high brands, MAN hitted acceptance during the men’s fashion weeks and men’s market weeks in New York this year. With WOMAN, the team behind MAN now debuts the tradeshow with a selection of womens brands, looking to bring something different to a crowded market and working on the basis of Quality before Quantity. A select line-up of brands including YMC, Steve Mono, Waiting For The Sun and Fred Perry Laurel Wreath will show at the first WOMAN during Paris Fahion Week. Antoine Floch, who created MAN and WOMAN together with ‘The Imaginers’ owner and director Romain Bernardie-James and Olivier Migda, takes time out to tell us a little about this new challenge to set up a womens tradeshow, the Paris womenswear scene and working with creative agency Les Imaginers.
A brilliant move to include porters, who kill at least two birds with one stone by associating the brand with the very wealthy while also shining on a light on the bags as noteworthy in and of themselves. It’s an interesting move because it seemed with the Spring 2012 collection, LV fianally was making some headway with its fashion, gaining magazine editorial and yet it’s possible that shift created its own set of problems. Attention, after all, must be paid to the bread and butter.
One more set of Kanye images. Lots of black, leather, boots are bananas–tho yes, heels look intense, no retreat up on the fur backbacks….enjoy!
As for reviews (not that it matters because who really makes any decisions by them anymore anyway), but we predict they will be better if only because fashionistas are at heart fickle plus don’t want to seem close minded and mean. And the truth is Kanye is a force to be reckoned with. These pics come via RCollete’s Twitter.
Not the best pic but here you have a taste of the finale for Kanye West’s Autumn 2012 show. And thus far it looks like the models are able to walk in the footwear. Via Lovemag Twitter.
A rep for Kanye West has confirmed to WWD he will show again during Paris Fashion Week on March 6t at 9:30pm. Reviews for his first show were mixed (and in some cases a bit over the top in their zealous meanness), but this is what happens when a celebrity attempts to do things for which s/he is not known. We like creativity combined with fearlessness so naturally we are fans of Kanye, making us team #rooting4dw to make it in the fashion world.
The Kanye West invites to his very first runway show have gone public. October 1st is date of the big event. Folks are guessing that the collection, called Dw, is named for his dear momma, Donda West. Can’t help but wonder why he chose Paris Fashion Week to debut his line. Months ago I would have guessed London would be the spot, as he has expressed an affinity for that city in his music.
Was it convenience, timing? Then again, Paris has an established history of providing a place of refuge to black American artists. Perhaps because of this West concluded it would be less of an inferno from a press-hype perspective. Whatever the reason, I’m excited and I will not lie–I’m rooting for a show that’s as controversial, amazing and awesome as West is. Can’t wait!
Haven’t had a look see yet at Chanel’s couture presentation for Autumn, but all of Karl’s pretty besties were in attendance, getting thoroughly dressed to the nines for the show like they always do. That’s model Astrid Munoz above, see Alexa Chung, Milla Jovovich, Diane Kruger and a few more on the next page.
