
Straying away from the dark, structured yet meticulously disheveled direction that most designers tend to go for in their Autumn collections, Norma Kamali’s line took the path of looking back at the exciting waves of women empowerment with outfits that literally make statements (’90s streetwear, anyone?) or pop with color and polka dots.
After being asked by Highsnobette why she felt that it was right to design a celebratory collection in 2012, Kamali gives a thankful nod to “technology and the internet, because fashion has become more accessible, democratic, and therefore empowering.” With the presentation also premiering the $100 and less collection, Kamalikulture, she may have lined her ducks right.
