BrooklynBridge 540x356 Update From New York #Sandy

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update from HighSnobette headquarters in Brooklyn where myself and SGP are located. In our corner of the borough we were oh-so fortunate in that we hung on to electricity throughout the storm. Our building shook on Monday night, the lights flickered, it was scary as hell, but in the end we were fine. Thanks so much to all of you, friends and acquaintences, from outside the City and within who directed concern or prayers our way….I know they helped our hearts and I do believe they allayed some of the City’s tragedies, which there were and continue to be plenty of, with the sounds of sirens around us seemingly endless. Hopefully all you, our readers, are okay.

Our subway (the Q) is still out and we know from receiving emails from libraries and places of work that lots of people are still without electricity with the worst outages in lower Manhattan. The photo (via Curbed) above sort of says it all–it’s the Brooklyn Bridge and it’s lit only three-quarters with the Brooklyn side okay while Manhattan remains dark. Con Ed says most in NYC should have service back by Saturday, but yea, I think all of us here believe we’re in this together and won’t feel right until the lights are back on for everyone.  And of course our hearts go out to those who have suffered heartbreaking losses. You are in our prayers. –LAS.

Kim, Kourt And Dash Come to New York City!

KimKourt Kim, Kourt And Dash Come to New York City!

Apparently Kourtney wasn’t joking about her plans to move to New York, and according to the NY Post part of that move includes opening another Dash store in SoHo [Update: Racked says it's at 119 Spring between Mercer and Greene] on Spring Street. Here she is with her little sister Kim strolling the streets of the City. Kim is not fooling around with her Gucci fur, over-the-knee Fendi boots and Birken bag, and both of them went over the top with their hat game. Love them or hate them, you have to appreciate how this family has given voice to glamorous fashion, eschewing the relaxed denim-cut-off looks that have become de rigueur just because they’re popular among 17-year-old models. Miss Sixty: S/S 09 @ Fashion Week: Not Afraid

Not sure I’ll be able to keep up with the blinding pace at which Fashion Week operates, but I’ll do my best to grab images from the shows that stand out. First up is Miss Sixty. Lots of designers because of the wretched economy are going to pull back and go conservative, but Miss Sixty (designed by Mr. Wichy Hassan–what a great name!) won’t be one of them.

Definitely the most street-inspired of all the designers we will probably see this week, Hassan dug into the emerging raw color trend with gusto. Many more images after the flip….
