PFW: Miu Miu Runway Spring 2013

Miu Miu front PFW: Miu Miu Runway Spring 2013

During Paris Fashion Week, Miuccia Prada presented a rather wicked line for Miu Miu’s Spring 2013 collection. Coats made of latex, leather and denim over straight-line yet-lose-fitting skirts were heightened with paint-splash flower prints. Over-sized furs in various colors were more discreet, with colors made to blend with the clothing they covered. Once again a very female collection for the sophisticated women.

PradaSpring2013 (5)

Prada showed a pure fun runway collection in Milan last week that appeared to be a tribute of sorts to Japan’s Harajuko girls. Not nearly as colorful as the label’s Autumn 2012 offerings or as graphics oriented as Spring 2012, nonetheless a theme of fearlessness remain with designer Miucca Prada continuing to blaze her own distinct path–torpedoes be damned.  (Meanwhile offering up yet another set of banger, must-have shades!) MetImpossibleConvoGifts (10)

If you’re looking for a cute item for the fashion lover in your life, the items being sold in association with the current exhibit, “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations“ are pretty darn cute and affordable. We already showed you the Prada shoe ornament, but there are also lip and lipstick-themed pens, plus a journal, cosmetic case, pocket mirror, magnet, posters and even a (more expensive) shawl. The smartphone case shown on this page is said to be inspired by the enameled top of a powder compact designed by Salvador Dali for Elsa Schiaparelli. Note, there is a sale currently on purchases of $50 or more. See here for details.

Prada s/s 09 …The Shoes!

prada Prada s/s 09 ...The Shoes!

Miucca Prada and her team of geniuses have again blown the fashion world away with a collection that is, in the Prada tradition ,unexpected, modern and  to me overtly sexy.A term that does not  always apply to the collections is certainly present this season with backless cropped sweaters, and  the disheveled wrinkled look of the morning after walk of shame.I liked the clothes, loved the skirts, but the Shoes! the Shoes! Accessorized with footsies   add a fun unexpected detail to the looks,Prada does what they do best.Great  works of leather that leave us lusting and make the footwear knockoff makers run to their factories and copy, copy, copy.

I loved what Sarah Mower the Style reporter had to say:

"There was something fabulously Italian about all this shameless reveling in femininity. The fifties overtones, with the high chignons, the ruched bras, and swishing rear-action in the below-knee pencil skirts managed to channel the heyday of Cinecitta without cliché. Best of all, this is a collection destined to look even better on a woman with a real body than it does on a teen model. And that, Mrs. Prada surely knows, really is "what counts."
