Marc Jacobs Explains The Louis Vuitton Woman

Check out this video of the amazing Marc Jacobs chatting about his view of the Louis Vuitton woman. He comments:

“She wants to be seen, she wants to be noticed…there’s nothing apologetic or shy about it. She’s strong whether she’s gentle, or whether she’s youthful or more mature, whatever, she’s definitely an extrovert.”

And I think there are tinges of English accept creeping into his voice during this interview, no? Maybe it’s Jacob’s Louis V voice….I could see how someone with as many hats as he wears taking on slightly different personas for each label if only to keep creative ideas distinct.

VSAlexWang2 CFDA Nominees Announced

CFDA announced its 2011 fashion award nominees and honoree recipients yesterday. The Womenswear Designer Award is the most coveted and this year the competition is super tight! There’s industry standard bearer Marc Jacobs (who won the award last year), crowd favorite Proenza Schouler (who we think “won” NY Fashion Week) and the king of Downtown New York, Alexander Wang, who was nominated for two additional awards, Accessory Designer Award and Swarovski Award for Menswear. Does Wang get it this year? You have to consider him the favorite if only because Jacobs has won it three times and the Proenza Schouler boys won it in 2007, and as such it might have the feel of a snub if he’s denied again.

See more nominees and recipients on the next page, including Lady Gaga who was awarded a well-deserved Fashion Icon Award.

PFW Video: Kate Moss Smoking For Louis Vuitton

10 March 2011, 15.07 | Posted in Fashion Week, Models, Runway Show, celebrity | No comments »

No idea Kate Moss had been retired from the runway for seven years prior to her appearance yesterday on Marc Jacob’s Paris Fashion Week runway for Louis Vuitton Autumn 2011. Or that the day she appeared was some sort of anti-smoking day. In any case, her puffing and half-exposed bum are garnering lots of mainsream news presentation, though we’re still not certain if this is a plus for LV or not. In a way, it’s already overexposed, then again, having Kate sprinkle her magic fairy dust on brands has proven more or less to be money in the bank.

Marc Jacobs, or rather his “Mrs. Jacobs” alter ego, was shot for the cover of “the first culture of fashion” magazine, Industrie, by Patrick Demarchelier. He was styled by Katie Grand. Not so sure how much of his girly parts are being revealed here, but clearly Marc “Shape Shifter” Jacobs is working the John Galliano within. Via Thecut.

SerpentineShoeMJFashionising Marc Jacobs Serpent Sandal Spring 2011

Marc Jacob’s Spring 2011 runway presentation was so dark the shoes didn’t get much shine, but Fashionising got a great shot of some sandals, which are a bit of a new direction for mark–less whimsical and more serious.
