Mara Hoffman can do no wrong in out world. Needless to say we had to highlight a few pieces we saw at the show this week featuring  color and print combinations that have us swooning for endless summer vacations…Enjoy a peek at beach bag and  a summer dress on the flip.

Mara Hoffman creates an exclusive line of scarves for retailer Bona Drag. Available in four prints, the silk chiffon scarves are big enough to be worn as a body wrap, halter top, or a neck scarf. Available now at Bona Drag’s etail site for $120.

The Mercedes Benz  Fashion Week Swim event is now taking place in Miami with today the final day. Mara Hoffman, a designer we always have an eye on, showed her collection yesterday. I don’t see that many radical departures from last year, more updates on colors and fabrications, plus some clever new cuts like the one above. Nonetheless, sexy and sensual as always and a name every fashion-minded beach lover wants included in her summer wardrobe.

Fiercely artistic with a bohemian edge and an affinity for a beauty that is universal, Mara Hoffman’s collections and presentation always make us pause in admiration. When bigger labels seem to stumble with their representations of global style, especially when it pertains to women of color, Mara Hoffman hits the right notes year after. In  2012 we want to believe that in showcasing beauty and style the color and ethnicity of models should be as broad as there are countries and cultures. The world we live in is widely diverse and in these parts we love our fashion to do everything it can to reflect that. As part of her Miami pop-up shop, Mara Hoffman worked with photographer Spencer Tunick to create some images celebrating the event. Tunick is known for his work snapping shots of nude people in public spaces and here he poses them in front of the Airstream trailer that will serve as Hoffman’s store space. It so interesting isn’t it how different naked bodies look when they’re not perfectly lit and styled.

Mara Hoffman launches her first pop-up store with a bang–out of an 1964 Airstream trailer in Miami, during Art Basel week (December 1-4). The shop will feature her own 2012 swimwear line plus a limited edition (15 each) line of bathing suits and leggings–see sneak peeks above–done in collaboration with artists Javier Piñón, Spencer Tunick, John Newsom, Eddie Martinez and Maya Hayuk.

Mara Hoffman’s Spring 2012 presentation for New York Fashion Week was amazing. She’s pretty much the woman when it comes to creating chilled yet chic tribal looks that us Snobettes tend to favor. Plus, she “gets” accessories, which, major bonus points !
