Rihanna: Isabel Marant Jacket, White Manolo Pumps & Gucci Bag

Rihanna (1)

Rihanna’s departs London, and heads to Paris by train, looking oh-so-chic in white Manolo Blahnik “BB” pumps (quite the item among celebs these days, though the white color is one of Rihanna’s signatures), an Etoile Isabel Marant army jacket and her much-adored Gucci “USA GG” flag-themed Boston bag. It’s very similar in silhoutte anyway to the LV Stephen Sprouse bag she carried all the time a year or so back so this must be a shape that works for her. And apparently when she got to Paris, there was quite the melee, brought on by fans who were awaiting her arrival.

On the next page, see a close up on her brown and beige, reverse-French nail art, plus a zoom in on her make-up, sunnies and necklaces.

ManolovsJCrew 540x221 J.Crew x Manolo Pumps Now Just Manolo Pumps

Remember the exciting pump collaboration between J.Crew and Manolo Blahnik (see above right image) announced and shown during NY Fashion Week Autumn 2012 presentations? The one that was quietly shut down after Blahnik said he knew nothing about the partnership, a statement that was followed up by J.Crew’s Jenna Lyon’s stating they couldn’t go forward because of production costs, ultimately adding, ”We are in a good place with [Manolo Blahnik] now. Everything’s okay.” (Translation: “We no longer wish to hang him from the rafters for totally flaking on us.”)

Well if you liked those glitter pumps, they have reappeared in Manolo’s Autumn 2012 offerings (see image above left), only they’re priced at $655, which probably isn’t too far off from where J.Crew would have priced them for inclusion in its Collection offerings. And the glittery pumps shown above aren’t the only ones to reappear. Take a look at the J.Crew runway image on the next page and do your own comparing and contrasting with the Manolo offerings shown on Neiman Marcus’s site.

The interest question is, have they lost some of their appeal not that they’re no longer part of a collabo with J.Crew? I sort of think so.

Manolo Blahnik Re-Issues The 2002 ‘Timbs’ Lace -Up Boots

manolo Manolo Blahnik Re Issues The 2002 Timbs Lace Up Boots

A sign of the times, fashion cycles and maybe the need for  Manolo Blahnik to play in the “it shoe” category we just spotted the 2002 suede and leather ankle Timberland-inspired boots at Saks.  Some reminders can be found in Jay Z and Beyonce’s ‘Bonnie and Clyde and in J.Lo’s “Jenny from the Block.”

The one update I can see e is the black ankle tab instead of a brown. The fashion geek in me me wants to camp a bit on the symbolism of this re-issue but  I’ll spare you a tirade. What I will say is that this boot comes at a  perfect time where style influences  are more than ever a broad mash-up  of  all eras and cultures. Get them here. One more picture on the flip.

J.Crew x Manolo Autumn 2012

I was gearing up to gripe about an aspect of NYFW in which editors sing the high praises of presentations featuring retailers who market to the mall masses……such as J.Crew, and then I saw the collection and my Snob thoughts were immediately squashed. The collection is really amazing–flat out.

And somehow this retailer even managed to rope Manolo Blahnik into a collabo, this after he swore up and down he wouldn’t ever do such a thing. (Oh the power of being Jenna Lyons!) But so glad he did–they are literally perfect pumps. Perfect. And yo, it’s possible that since it’s J.Crew they may even come in my big girl size 11!

See some highlights from the collection on the next page.

Manolo Blahnik Military Ankle Cuff Sandals

Manolo Bullet sandals

Spotted these on ME’s blog and had to share. Clearly Manolo Blahnik has pumped up the volume. While brass or gold tone chains would have been  in our opinion perfection, this is the definition of  hot in a sandal. Available at Neiman Marcus  .
