This post pretty much wraps up Magic images. There’s one more of shoes I photographed on women’s feet and that’s it. I feel bad that I lost this woman’s business card. [Update: MissCrew has a post on the designer, too, and her name is Peggy Noland! Tons more great photos there of her whole booth and other items.] All I can say is she was awesome, a veritable cupcake come to life. She was selling clubwear, which is mostly popular in Japan and Europe, which I can totally imagine in large part ’cause I haven’t been to discos in either of those places so why the heck not?

Note the "I heart Mommy/Daddy" print on her outfit, not to mention the polka dot Reebok Freestyle kicks. My heart swoons!

After the flip you can see not just a cowl-necked body suit, and a adult-sized clubwear diaper with a special added feature.

There was no way a trip was going to be made to Las Vegas without checking in with 80%20 designer Ce Ce Chin, a longtime fave around these parts. We didn’t get long to chat ’cause Ce Ce was BUSY, but she let us know that response to her line was so positive that she’s thinking of expanding her booth next year. Nice!

Here are some of the more casual elements of Spring 2009, but let it be known that Ce Ce is also expanding the dressier part of her line and it looks fantastic!

I’m telling you, there are still waaaaay too few streetwear designers addressing the wants and needs list of female customers. The floor of S.LA.T.E. was very much man world. Obey is NOT part of the female-ignoration crowd. For a while now, it’s offered designs for women, and not just in smaller tee-shirt sizes. The brand offers the full gamut and it has a female designer (Argh! I just discovered that I accidentally left all the cards I got in my hotel room so I can’t tell you her name, which sucks!!) dedicated to the task. UPDATE: I just an email from the designer. Her name is Erin Wignall and she is great!

I couldn’t photograph Spring 2009, but I can tell you that Obey did a VERY cool collabo with amazing street photographer Martha Cooper.

M.O.B made its first ever appearance at Magic, showing its Spring 2009 line, which, unfortunately, I couldn’t photograph. BUT, take my word for it, it looks fantastic…..and wait ’til you see the bags! And I wasn’t the only one appreciating her line; her booth was BUSY!
