Platform LV: Suecomma Bonnie Shoes

SuecommaBonnie (1)

Okay readers, I think today should wrap up at least my coverage of our trip to Magic, which is quickly fading in the rearview. The shoes you’re spying here are designed by Korean designer Suecomma Bonnie, who was sharing a booth with Camilla Scovgaard. Both clearly revel in making eye-catching shoes though I’d say Suecomma Bonnie is more about the fancy via a contrasting color and materials story. They’re different and yet I could easily see the same woman wearing both brands. Enjoy more looks from Suecomma Bonnie’s collection on the next page.

Platform LV: Camilla Skovgaard Spring 2012

CamillaSkovgaard 540x495 Platform LV: Camilla Skovgaard Spring 2012

Was extremely torn by which Camilla Skovgaard style to feature on the first page of this post. On the one hand we’re excited by the new flat styles the brand is showing for Spring 2012, on the other hand, heels aint going the way of Dino the dinosaur any time soon and these woven, black and white sandals are the slickness…..so they won the battle in my head, but do check out the flats and another color of the heels on the next page.

United Nude Wedge Sneak Peek Autumn 2011

United Nude Wedge Sneak Peek Autumn 2011

Last week we showed the United Nude shoe featured in the Threeasfour NY Fashion Week runway show. And while visiting the brand’s booth at the Platform section of Magic in Las Vegas last week, we also got a sneak peek of the Autumn 2011  line, which includes this visual stunner. More than just a shoe, it’s wearable art, which speaks to desinger Rem D. Koolhaas’s architectural DNA as much as anything he’s ever designed.

Melissa ‘Time Code’ Collection Autumn 2011

Melissa (1)

Melissa showed an Autumn 2011 collection, titled “Time Code,” with each style name after ways we spend our time: “Kissing,” “Waiting,” “Making,” etc. What’s different  and exciting about the brand is all the new material offerings. The pumps on this page are still “plastic dreams,” but during the manufacutring process, a velvet material is blown on the shoe, resulting in a lightweight and waterproof shoe. And since velvet is having a moment, we are loving it. Many more styles on the next page including a convertable fur rain boot and another Alexandre Herchcovitch collaboration, this time a super neat Beatle boot. There are also menswear-inspired oxfords and for the first time sneakers! More on the next page with all images via Highsnobette.

Walking around Magic’s Project show past booth after booth after booth of similar-looking stuff, this bag more or less leaped up and down and demanded, “Look at me, I’m adorable—take a picture of meeeeeeee!” And voila, now you, dear reader, get to share in the fun of this skull & crossbone tote, too. Some more serious yet equally handsome Autumn 2011 bags on the flip. All images HighSnobette.

Swedish Hasbeens Autumn 2011

SwedishHasbeens (2)

We were wondering if Swedish Hasbeens would stay forever a clog company and much to our delight we discovered in a visit to its booth a Magic’s Platform show that it’s added new profiles for Autumn 2011. The retro feel is still there and much like a well-edited vintage store, the tassled loafers (above), lace-up military boots with sheepskin lining and pull on boots with gum soles (!) all very much have a what’s next feel to them. And don’t worry, clogs remain a mainstay, featuring new colors and treatments. More on the next page. All images via Highsnobette.

Spotted on the Floor: Shoe Candids

TradeLAMB Spotted on the Floor: Shoe Candids

When attending the trade shows, I always intend to take candids of the fashionable folks strolling the floors, but you’d be surprised if you haven’t been to the shows because it’s not always easy to find photo-worthy walkers! For a lot of attendees, it’s a work event and they’re wearing comfy (read: b-o-r-i-n-g) footwear. The one exception was New York’s Coterie. That crowd was much more dressed up, but then again the labels that show there are higher end and the crowd is older. Alas, I forgot my camera that day. The image above was worn by a LAMB rep at the Project show in Vegas. After the flip some candids of Chloe boots, Jeffrey Campbell wedges and and a couple of other cute styles spotted at Magic (also held in Vegas), Project and Compass (in New York).

Es N Yaa Bags at Magic

EsNYaa1Magic Es N Yaa Bags at Magic

Cotton totes aint nothing new, but I love how Es N Yaa update the look with Ghanian fabrics, which, according to co-designer Esther, have limited production runs. In other words, once the fabric is exhausted, that’s it, nada mas! So the chances of spotting another woman sporting a bag just like yours (which, you know I love LV all day, but how many LV Speedy bags did you spot today?) is very, very small.

Fila X Premium Goods Event

05 September 2008, 16.08 | Posted in Chicks with Kicks, Design, Fashion, Sneakers, Stores | No comments »

The Fila X Premium Goods event went down last night at the Manhattan Fila store. Ever since Magic, I’ve developed a secret crush on Fila, and after last night, I’m no less in love. I just want Fila to do more of the same slick looks for women that it’s already doing for men. Here’s the Fila/Premium Goods collabo sneaker (sorry Ladies, only in men’s sizes) being held by the ever-chilled Clarence, owner of BK-based Premium Goods.

FilaClarenceShoe Fila X Premium Goods Event

^^When I chatted with Clarence, we heard that he has emminent plans (as in next week!) in the works to open an all-women’s boutique called Wndrlnd, next door to Premium Goods!! I have to chat with him to get details on an exact opening date as well as the brands he’s gonna stock, but in the meantime….wheeeeeeee!

Many more images after the flip, including me hugging up against the Fila track jacket I was swooning over at Magic…..

Women’s Sandals @ Magic

02 September 2008, 21.13 | Posted in Fashion, Shoes | No comments »

I’m really loving where women’s fashion sandals, especially flats, are these days trend-wise. If you think back on the desert were lost in a mere two or three seasons ago when rubber flip-flops dominated and Havainos were a major fashion statement, the choices in comparison now are borderline spectacular, and I have a felling that Spring 2009 promises to be even more creative and fun. While at Magic, I photographed some sandals that I liked. There were so many more that I didn’t get a chance to snap for whatever reason (like the pair of Gucci thongs that didn’t make it ’cause my dumb battery ran out!)

^^These are Leah McSweeney’s of MTTM in her Guiseppe Zanotti flower flats. I featured these in the post on the brand, but you know me.

More to the right….
