Check April 77’s lookbook for Autumn 2012, paying homage to the traditional colors and patterns creted by the indigenous populations of the Southwest. With the “Gypsy Mountains” collection, the French brand offering’s are highlighted by denim, woolen scarves and a gorgeous Aztec patterned coat that  fell in love with. It’s only the third collection, but the Australian label Khalo has already become known for its lean and modern, with a hint of androgy looks. Check out an image from the ”Full House” lookbook above for Spring 2013, as modeled by Emily Jean Bester, who represents perfectly the strong women attitude that the label stands for (Khalo, from Frida Khalo) and that also comes through the collection.

 Earlier this month, we featured the video lookbook for Madewell Autumn 2012, featuring none other than the beautiful Solange Knowles. The collection will hit Madewell stores on September 4th and is available online. Take a look at stills of our favorite  looks after the jump.

Comics used as an art form to express retro looks with ironic humor is a common practice, and of course the  fashion industry is in on the trend. Phillip Lim has now thrown his hat in the ring by showing his Autumn 2012 collection as drawn by John Ostrander and Star Wars artist Jan Duursema in a book called “Kill The Night.” The comic displays the collection with neo-noir heroines who became the natural medium to tell a story.

“A story of duality and metamorphosis, day and night, black and white, love and betrayal. Things are not what they seem. Look again.”

Along a huge Facebook and Twitter campaign the designer eventually will reveal who the characters are really based off of. The comic book is set to launch on Fashion’s Night Out on September 6th and will be available from 3.1. Phillip Lim’s website and in-store during FNO.

One of Berlin’s upcoming young designers, Laos-born Hien Le, showed his debut collection for Spring 2011 during Berlin Fashion Week in Summer 2010, an effort that earned him the title of “Best Newcomer” by Sportswear International magazine. So for those of you who haven’t caught wind of him, have a look at his fashion genius as presented in his beautiful collection for Spring 2013.

For the collection Le took inspiration from the style-setting tv series Miami Vice, with an overall look that is clean and and harmonious with a pastel-colored palette set off by Miami-friendly flamingo prints. This is what we want this summer! The Hien Le collection is currently available at Voo Store Berlin, Croon a Song in Tokyo and online at Farfetch.com.

 Zara pulled out all the stops with two Autumn 2012 lookbook, one featuring  Freja Beha Erichsen and the other Cara Delevingne for the chain’s TRF line, geared to a younger customer. Both campaigns are shot in black and white with a major focus on the mood. The result are great photo campaigns and two beautiful videos. Enjoy!

With its “I’ll be your mirror” lookbook, Japanese brand Bedwin & The Heartbreakers, mostly known for it’s very detail-orientated and high-quality garments, has proven that it not only knows how to play with classic American menswear, but also that its womenswear offerings are worth paying heed to. It’s great how the label combines different elements to create fresh looks, all very modern but not overly sleek. I really fell in love with the varsity jacket, combined with a simple blue shirt and classic black trousers.

This Opening Ceremony lookbook shot by Tim Barber brings to mind a quote in Elle magazine’s October issue by creative director Joe Zee, who in a story on various looks, declared, ”I’m not a big fan of the peasant top–it’s just sloppy. And boho chic is done.” And clearly OC is in agreement, showing a collection for Spring 2012 that’s clean, minimalist, largely monotone and pretty much the opposite of earthy.
