It’s Monday and we have a full week to plan our evening activities for the next weekend. High-fashion minimalism has been a leading trend on the runways for at least a few seasons, a look that kicked into high gear with Celine’s Autumn 2012 runway. Damir Doma just dropped the lookbook for the label’s Pre-Autumn 2013 collection in the typical Parisian avant-garde manier. Sculptural volumes are the trademark of the Croatian designer and again we find unbelievable pieces made of denim, leather and corduroy in this latest collection. I was stopped dead in my late-night, window shopping tracks by this leather bag. It’s designed by Muñoz Vrandecic, a Barcelona-based fashion house known for incorporating sculptural techniques to the construction of fashion pieces. (Founder and Designer Miguel Munoz Wilson is also a sculptor.) The distressed finish of the black leather, the bare beige leather interior, the unpolished gold hardware, and an embossed gold tag finish…it’s as if the bag came straight from the artist’s hand to your shoulders.
