QueenoftheJungleMelodyEhsanijpg HighSnobette Best Of 2012

What we have always loved about fashion is it’s potential to bring joy. We as HighSnobette editors feel so lucky to not only have witnessed many of these special moments but to also have come to know and watch grow many of the artists and designers behind some of our favorite projects. Below in no particular order we share what we regard as some of the best, joy-bringing efforts of 2012:

Designer Melody Ehsani’s star has been on the rise for quite some time now, but her “Queen of the Jungle” necklace (above) in many ways stamped her official arrival. We lost count of the stylish celebrities spotted in this vivacious fun piece.

Leah McSweeney has always been a force of personality. She literally is the MTTM brand, as backed by an intensely loyal supporting staff + fan base. Like many young brands the label went through its stumbles when investors pulled out, but the tenacious McSweeney was able to hold on to the name and this year the label found its own inimitable stride again, as marked by the brand’s “Supreme Bitch” snapback cap, which received the blessing of none other mega-style star Rihanna.

See many more “bests” on the next page. And a very Happy New Year to all. Thank you so much for your support in 2012.

Men Repeller & Her Man For Rag & Bone Photo Shoot

Leandra&Abie

The stylish and super funny Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, and her new husband, Abie Cohen (see Medine’s Marchesa wedding dress here), visit Rag & Bone’s New York showroom for a photo shoot promoting the brand, along with a cute q&a. Here’s an excerpt:

R&B: Do you ask each other’s advice on clothes?
Medine
: I don’t like asking him, but he always asks, “Does this match?”. I think his mom made him seem like he was never matching when he was a child. He’ll wear a black sweater with black pants and ask, “Does this match?”. It’s odd. Sometimes he’s like, “Lea, you don’t match” and I’m like, “Yeah, I know, that’s the point.” He definitely never has the problem of; “Leandra, that’s a little too promiscuous, please don’t wear that”. It’s more like, “Leandra, I want to feel attracted to my wife.

In the interview, Medine also details her hunch that the big question was coming:

“I had a bunch of invites in my room and my mom went, “You’re not going to this?” about an invite from Reed Krakoff on the 8th. I was like “Since when are you so interested in my schedule – Abie is proposing, isn’t he?” She got freaked out and started getting teary.”

See more of the shoot and q&a here.

Man Repeller Leandra Medine Responds To Twitter Questions

Glamour just posted this but we had to snatch for our site because it made us laugh and laugh and laugh. Man Repeller, aka Leandra Medine, it is hard to say which you are more of–fashionable or hysterically funny. Watch Medine as she responds to questions like whether she does yoga, her most repellent outfit ever, woman repellers (answer: “capris cargo shorts, Crocs, short-sleeeved checkered shirts, popping double collars, anything on the Jersey Shore”), who should get man-repeller of the year award, and more!

UPDATE: There is another, longer video shot at the same time (both by Bluefly) of Medine going through her closet. It’s equally funny….and stylish.
