These Vans Hadley Lo kicks were customized with studs and other details by Medievel just for Hellz head designer, Lanie Alabanza. Post-makeover, the shoes have been deemed “Fvckboutin” (inspired obvs to some degree by Louboutins’s studded sneakers)  and they are about as sick as a shoe can be.

From a fashion standpoint this is probaly on of my favoritesHellz Bellz Collection as her aesthetic is made clear and defined with pieces that stand on their own as must haves. This is probably my  all time fave  tee by Hellz Bellz , the women’s iconz tee where Lanie Alabanza Barcena highlights some of the noteworthy women who made their mark  in our  culture. A few we could identify: Sade, Debbie Harry, Vivienne Westwood, Ertha Kitt, Gabrielle’Coco” Chanel, Grace Jones…Making this a must have. Culture Clash,  is the theme chosen  by  Hellz Bellz for Spring/Summer 2009. Bright fun pieces with an edge of subversion that has become Lanie Alabanza- Barcena’s signature:

“Taking it back to where it all began… NYC of course, the collection was inspired by the cultural melting pot itself, bringing to you a collection full of vibrant colors and patterns, uniting and bridging cultural boundaries. The line features a brushed french terry pullover hoodie with triangle jacquard triangle rib and “Natural Born Badass” embroidery on the back, a zebra mesh jacket w/ contrast pop red lining, the much anticipated acid wash denim jacket with “HELLZ” and broken bottle embroidered artwork on the back, along with fashion tops, tanks, graphic tees and multi-colored leggings.”

Lanie Alabanza-Barcena’s Hellz Bellz Holiday 08  Collection titled "Born Bad" has just launched.Here’s what she had to say about her inspiration:

"Inspired by the infamous Vaudeville actress, and sexual liberator, Mae West, our Holiday collection represents for the "Born Bad" femme fatale. With West’s racy quotes which sprang, tough-dame style from the side of her mouth, she’s been firmly stamped as the personification of Hellz through her story of survival, persistence, independence and unshakable self-esteem. In her life which ended in 1980, at the age of 87, she became both an icon and pioneer for both men and women everywhere."
