Just had a chat with Darin Hager, designer for the up-and-coming Heyday footwear line. We were talking ’cause Darin wanted to let me know that his Spring 2009 line will include some designs that the ladies are gonna love. The brand is very new on the scene, but prior to the launch, Darin was designing for heavyweights like Puma and Sperry Topsider for a minute, and you don’t have to look close to see his experience reflected in his designs. In other words, this is not a Air Force One knock-off situation at all.

^^It’s hard to see the detail here, but Heyday’s signature is a triple stitch that sets off a very cool frayed leather border as the shoe gets worn. You can buy ‘em at a bunch of boutiques, including the awesome Bodega (tho cheez, is that film loop on their site creepy or what??) and online at Karmaloop

The creative force behind Tokidoki, Simone Legno, is another designer (like Claw $$$ in the previous post) who is giving women’s streetwear its next level propers.

We’ve done best-selling tops and dresses at Karmaloop, how could we not do shoes?? Besides, I see that Samia’s already started a Karmaloop trend with her previous post, and I’m all tapped out on rebelling against the latest and greatest.

While I have had it up to here with silhouettes of woodland creatures and birds used as a design feature, I fell in immediate love with this ice cream bar necklace, made for Nylon magazine by Lucas Design. There’s a lot of factors tugging at my heartstrings, starting with my longterm love affair with ice cream (and it helps that it’s finally starting to feel like ice cream season in New York), add in the purple sparkle and I’m reeled in hook, line and sinker!

^^For days when you wish someone would eat you up!
This necklace and some others will be available for $50 a pop on 06/01 at Fred Segal, Karmaloop, and UrbanOutfitters, but there’s not gonna be endless quantities so get ‘em before they melt!
Mucho amor, Lois

While doing some browsing on Karmaloop the other day, this Insight Transformer bag caught my eye. Maybe it’s ’cause I’m just back from a trip to Guatamala and something about the pattern had me remembering the trip or maybe I appreciate its multi-functionalality, whatever the reason, I just like it.

^^A really unique weekend/beach bag that’s eye-catching without being too girly.

^^Close up on the fabric. See, it’s kind of different–a combo of modern and traditional
A couple more versions of the bag after the flip….

A week or so ago, I highlighted the top-selling tees at Karmaloop. This week I checked in with the site’s buyer, Dina, to see what’s up with dresses. It’s kinda fun to see what I might think is happening vs. the reality of the streetwear-buying masses. One thing for sure, young women of the world are feeling very sexy this spring. The five dresses she listed are all short and extremely flirty.
Here’s the first of the top five:
