Tilda Swinton, who just appeared in David Bowie’s latest music video, now got the official face of Chanel’s Metiers d’art Paris Collection. Mister Karl Lagerfeld chose the actress, because she “perfectly embodies the Paris Edimbourg collection. She is of course Scottish, but more than that she is a modern woman, a timeless icon of elegance.”

The ad’s of the Paris Edimbourg collection will start appearing in May 2013 pubications.

Chanel just dropped the ad campaign for its Spring 2013 collection, starring 16-year (or 15, no one seems to know) -old American model Ondria Hardin, along with 16-year-old Yumi Lambert and Stella Tennant, who, since we’re counting, is an ancient 42!

Because more pressure and rules around using models under the age of 16 have arisen recently, a good bit of controversy has already swirled around Hardin. She walked her first show in 2011 at age 14 for Marc Jacobs, who at the time chose to ignore CFDA recommendations against using models under 16. Who will win the tug of war around what age young women should be allowed to model remains unclear, but at least for the Chanel images, Hardin looks like she fits right in and is gorgeous at that.

Beside model choices, a closer examination of the ad reveals a smalerl version of the Hoola Hoop bag that was widely featured after the show in September.

The unreal and impressive venue called Linlithgow Palace in Scotland was the setting of an at least as impressive Pre-Fall 2013 collection presentation set up by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. The story behind the choice for the castle is simple but brilliant: The collection features iconic Scottish styles like the kilt, coats with swagger and skirts in black crepe de chine. Combined with the tragic but very romantic history of Mary, Queen of Scots, who was born exact 700 years ago, the base for an unforgettable showcase was given.

While most of us were doubting that the huge Hula Hoop bag, that was shown on the Chanel runway this year, will ever be put in production, Mister Karl Lagerfeld certainly was already about to cook up a plan how to make the bag capable for commerce. I never underestimated Karl’s sense of humor behind the creation , which by the way captured more media attention than any other item from this years fashion week, but when I saw this miniature version of the Hula Hoop bag I was indeed somehow surprised. The 24 centimeter mini version will be available for purchase in all Chanel shops starting Spring 2013.

Karl Lagerfeld presented this cute selection of Lego handbags for   Spring/Summer 2013. After Paris Fashion Week the hype around the hula-hoop bag was so big that we almost forgot to present this little treasure. It seems as if Karl had fun creating this collection, and took inspiration from his (or even everyones’s) childhood. We still don’t know if the Lego bag will ever get in stores, but I really like the idea of playing with plastic and the Chanel-typical chains.

The spread called ‘La reine Victoria’ is lovely; Victoria looks great in the setting of Coco Chanels ancient apartment. Fendi celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Baguette handbag by opening a series of dedicated pop-up stores. Fendis RTW designer Karl Lagerfeld now created an exclusive drawing to celebrate the iconic handbag featuring patterns that pay homage to the Baguette. Karl Lagerfeld created with its RTW collection for Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 a line that again represents the brand more than 100%. Mixing modern aspects like the use of pastel colors and new shapes, there is always that little something that reminds of the classic Coco Chanel in black and white wearing tweed and pearls. Model Stef van der Laan stars the Spring 2013 press kit images and is the perfect incarnation of the modern Coco Chanel.
