In case anyone thought Karl was playing around when he showed his fall collection a couple months back featuring beautiful young women role-playing as plushies, his ready-to-wear fall 2010-2011 collection, which he showed in Tokyo today, shows he was dead serious. And while there were fewer teddy bears attempting to navigate the runway this time, fur was still flying everywhere. On the one hand, I love the furry looks. They actually cause me to bust out laughing when I think about them. On the other hand…well, I suppose there is no downside unless you’re a Chanel exec, wondering what the market is for rich society women willing to sip tea dressed as a sports team mascot (though oh god how I wish they would!)
Many more furry looks after the flip….the fur underpants–a tribute of sorts I suppose to Gaga/Beyonce–were my faves by far.
Colette along with DC Comics has invited a bunch of fashion’s heaviest hitters to celebrate the publishing house’s 75th anniversary by collaborating on a design inspired by a DC Comic super hero. A Pierre Hardy bag inspired by Clark Kent’s alter ego is featured on this page, and on the next page is a Wonder Woman dress by Sonia Rykiel, driving gloves by Karl Lagerfeld, tee-shirts by My Face and Balmain, plus a super cool Wonder Woman headband by Maison Michel and some sunglasses by Thierry Lasry.
As mentioned here yesterday Karl Lagerfeld premiered his short flick, “Remember Now” last night, and we present it here, split into two parts. The clothing is gorgeous, but as a poster on YouTube aptly sums up, “Rich and beautiful people fucking themselves with their egos. What an inane cliché.” Funny and true.
We just got our hands on these display images, designed by Karl Lagerfeld’s in conjuntion with his collaboration with Coca-Cola. The display was recently installed at Galeries Lafayette, which along with Colette, will sell a limited-edition, boxed version of the bottle, complete with a matching opener. What we liked most about this exhibit? It features the Tokidoki “Pink Tie” Karl Lagerfeld doll, designed by Simone Legno!
Images shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Many more after the flip.
Here is a trailer from Karl Lagerfeld’s “Remember Now” short movie, which premiered last night at the Chanel Cruise collection presentation in St. Tropez. This clip features Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Heidi Mount and Karolina Kurkova. Tonight you can see the whole shebang replete with obligatory nude, dancing models at 7:30 CET on Chanel-News.
Just heard from Tokidoki designer, Simone Legno, who had just come from his first meeting with Karl Lagerfeld to officially hand-off the mini-Karl vinyl doll. Here’s what Simone had to say about meeting the legendary one:
I attach a picture of me and Karl Lagerfeld that I will save it for my grandsons one day! He is the best and was very nice and sweet! I was very anxious, but when he said as first thing when he met me, “Finally!…the doll!” I felt way better and chilled down with a big smile!
Can you even imagine?? (And there will be NO fighting over who gets to be the grandma of those grandsons!)
One more image of Karl and mini-Karl after the jump….
Simone wrote me last week to let me know about his mini-Karl Lagerfeld doll. Samia had posted up info about that a while back so I figured that rather than repost the image of the vinyl toy (you can see it after the jump), I thought this would be a good time to post up a picture I took of Simone at Magic. At Magic, Tokidoki was showcasing items from its new Marvel partnership, which he was super excited about it.
And I just want to add that Simone is one the nicest, most humble and talented people I’ve met in this often-not-very-pleasant industry. When I told him to email me about the Karl vinyl or ANY thing he does new, he was actually concerned about bugging me with too many emails. So never say anything mean about him ’cause you will be wrong!
Karl Lagerfeld clearly poking fun at himself, sporting a Karl Who? Bag. Let’s see the craze this will create. Then again this might just be too simple…via clones
While looking through the images on Style of the Chanel Autumn ready-to-wear ‘09 looks, I was sort of bored at first by the clothes so I started zeroing in on the accessories. And even then it was like, ehh shoes no big deal, bag inside a plastic container too weird for me, mint green color theme not doing it for me. I started perking up when I saw a leather skirt and then right after that, a leather dress!! A Chanel leather dress, people. Could you ever in your wildest dreams EVER image?? The dresses were followed by tribal catsuits, which, right there the deal for me was sealed. I give it up to you Karl. Your evil genius has struck once again!
The accessories I mentioned, plus the skirt and a shimmery dress after the jump.
