Denham The Jeanmaker ‘Highland’ Jacket

Denham 1 Denham The Jeanmaker Highland Jacket

What happens when French army style meets the retro-inspired motorcycle attitude of the early 60’s, shows this parka from the house of Denham. With the Highland jacket, the brand created a praka that features just the same characteristics as its namesake: strong, fast, soft and warm. Not to mention that the jacket looks just gorgeous. With its nubuk leather sleeves and a chunky knit collar, the parka offers the best conditions to become our favorite companion for cold days. The Highland jacket from the current Denham Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is now available via Denham.

AD LN CC Ann Demeulemeester Aspect Coat

Ann Demeulemeester’s (will never learn to write her name!) Autumn 2012 collection features my favorite color combination for fall– black and midnight blue.  I’ve taken an especially shine to the “Aspect” coat, a multi-panelled jacket with an adjustable collar and placket as well as a completely removable skirted section. The jacket is available now at LN-CC for a retail price of $2200.

Lirfons ‘Sound Of Rain’ Jacket

Highsnobette-Lirfons SOR1

One of the reasons why the Snobs adore independent designers and young labels is because they put it all out there fabulously. This “Sound of Rain Jacket” by the talented  Maldova-based Lirfons we cannot ignore. At first glance the look can be seen as conceptual but on closer inspection the thick activewear zipper and elastic cuff translates into a street sensibility with an avant-garde edge.

Painting the picture of the womem we imagine wearing–it ranges from Snobette style  faves Stella Tenneant, Tilda Swinton, Rihanna  to of course Melody Ehsani. In my dream in which the big brands go all the way with design, there’s a  collaboration with Lirfons , this jacket has a swoosh, a Jumpman  or three stripes somewhere and my heart stops . You can see it in more angles on the flip, and  please take the time to look at many more heart stopping  (Billberry and Black Puma) jackets here.

I’ve always been an advocate of building a wardrobe of good basics and adding standout, little pieces that add the wow factor. Case in point this Haute Hippie cropped jacket , adding a good dose of meow, 100 percent silk, aka worth every penny! Available here, various angles on the flip .

Outdoor Retailer: Cool without Trying

27 January 2009, 22.02 | Posted in Coats & Jackets | 2 comments »

One of the best parts of the Outdoor Retailer show is all the rugged Americana looks that are fashionable without even trying. All of my women who have shopped in hunting departments or at horse supply shops know of what I speak.  Here’s one image from a company called Bemidji, that makes wool coats.benmidjiplaid Outdoor Retailer: Cool without Trying

Throw a funky label on there, some constrasting top stitching and exchange the black buttons for flourescent orange ones and voila, you have a hot streetwear item!

After the jump is one more image of a fashionable rep, plus a couple of really cute dogs, who are allowed to attend the show! They even give them their own show badges!

Nike Metro Logo Jkt and Neon “Do It” Tee @ Purchaze

01 October 2008, 21.06 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Nike lately has been trying to do a less retarded job with its lifestyle clothing lines and I have to admit, all its hard work, not to mention time spent rubbing shoulders with the hoi polloi at indie trade shows is starting to pay-off. This black Metro jacket now for sale at fine online retailer Purchaze is just plain slick and I would personally love to own it:

DC S/S 09: Boy Meets Girl

25 September 2008, 17.15 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

After my visit with Onitsuka Tiger yesterday, I headed uptown to the Garment District to see what the women of DC were up to. First up, the women’s spring clothing line, whose theme is "Boy Meets Girl." The line is inspired by all of your guy’s favorite pieces, albeit made strictly for the females in cut, color and details.

^^I love the checks on this, plus there’s a cute little black bow tie above the buttons that you can’t see. And the cut is perfect–just long enough to show off some curves.

Look for February/March 2009 delivery on all the items featured here.

Sundress and blazer after the flip…

Members Only Jacket @ ShopBop

03 September 2008, 18.13 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

I’m in a very I-don’t-know-mood today. I didn’t know if I like the sequin pants dress and I don’t know if I like this Members Only jacket that you can buy at ShopBop. I mean, I like it, the cut is classic, but I’m kind feeling like the cool irony factor of this brand is a little 2007. But then again, who freaking cares and btw, how did I turn out to be such a retard?

^^It’s $145. This brand always makes me think of the maid on Will & Grace (which I forgot the name of so I typed in "Jack, gay, sitcom." It worked!) cuz she always was wearing one.

Vans is coming with the women’s product! Here’s a peek at a jacket that was designed in collabo with Greg “PNUT” Galinsky, a skater/designer, who, natch, reps for Souther Cal.
