Gucci Spring 2009 Men’s Accessories My Picks

gucci 1 Gucci Spring 2009 Mens Accessories My Picks

Although I love high end fashion , I  don’t always understand the fact  that some  features like the style choices for gender remain static. Looking at the Gucci Men’s Spring 09 Men’s accessories catalog, I found many pieces like the bag and the kicks (above)  that really should be unisex.  I don’t know if research has found male specific labels to  make the male consumer more comfortable or if it has to do with the label’s perception of  their female consumer .

Regardless of the intricate implications of fashion , gender and labelling on the next page the cool stuff any woman could rock.

Henrik Vibskov Pillow Jacket

henrik vibskov pillow jkt cover Henrik Vibskov Pillow Jacket

Henrik Vibskov ’s collection  for women is always  fun and wearable, tainted with a certain playfulness. His pieces  have a little something for everyone.

The pillow jacket to me, was an excuse to wear something totally tight underneath like a unitard or a mini, and then the visual of getting caught in the wind with your jacket turning into a balloon is ofr course totally fun. ( I know imma geek) If there are  any color shy folks out there, blinded by the bright blue , the jacket comes in black too!  Available at  the- v- store.

Highsnobette- MAC x Hello Kitty

Mac and Hello Kitty have teamed up and created two new lines for spring. The Hello Kitty Colour collection will feature numerous new shades of lipsticks, false lashes, eye shadows, glitter eyeliner, and lots of other goodies.  The second line, Hello Kitty Kouture will feature Swarovski crystal encrusted reusable packaging. The overall look retains classic Hello Kitty qualities mimicking her sometimes sweet and often mischievous personality. So expect lots of bubble gum pinks that have been kicked up a notch with jet black and super bright turquoise, a look that feels at home both at your niece’s birthday party and stumbling out of a club at four A.M.

John Varvatos Artisan

varvatos1 John Varvatos Artisan

So, I have had a serious label crush on John Varvatos, the label, for a while. The clothes are dark, refined, sometimes edgy but never minimalistic cold or stoic .  A little rock n’ roll, five o’clock shadow cool without trying. John Varvatos fragrances consistently reflect that  same aesthetic with  the introduction of a new scent, Artisan.

“Artisan blends state-of-the-art, abstract notes with classic citrus and herbal tones, for a contemporary twist on the traditional cologne. Each flask is housed in a hand-woven rattan, enabling every bottle to have signature intricacies, making each a one-of-a kind creation.”

Adele Dressed by Anna Wintour: Your Verdict?

adele 1 Adele Dressed by Anna Wintour: Your Verdict?

Adele before and after (L-R)

The Cut announced  last week that Adele was going to be dressed by none other than Ms. Anna Wintour herself for the 2009 Grammy awards. Adele seemed excited and I  was too, when I thought of the access Ms. Wintour has to pretty much any high-end designer.  The look was not horrible,  it was a great idea to play up  Adele’s green eyes,  emphasize her waist and put her in heels. The idea was classy, yet still a bit too conservative   for a 20-year old. Your thoughts??

feather 1mini 540x303 Electric Feathers at Phillips De Pury

Electric Feathers, the label created by the the lovely Leana Zuniga, launched a collection of one of a kind, hand-made pieces available at Philips de Pury.  Most of Leana’s Zuniga’s pieces adapt to the wearer’s interpretation allowing a level of self expression that is strong and subtle at the same time. Electric Feathers marks Phillips de Pury’s foray into the presentation of apparel and accessories  in an auction format, where each piece is indeed a collectible.

mia 3 2 1 MIA at the 2009 Grammys: Part Two

Another look at our beloved MIA, who added a great dose of fun and  playfulness to the otherwise almost boring red carpet, which is looking too much like the Oscars. What happened to the days when you looked forward to seeing how cool/funky/daring  your favorite bands and singers would be?

More of the very cute and pregnant MIA and Benjamin Brewer, who apparently did not leave her side.
