The plaid jackets are FIRE!

Diane is my hero. I realize that’s not a very original thought, but I just wanted to get that out there since I thought her collection was just okay and I love her too much to just flat out diss her and leave it at that. Colors and all that were hot (though that’s like saying it’s warm in the summer because her pallettes never seem to miss), but the best part of the collection were the pants (I want those one in the far right photo above with a sickness!!), but I feel let down ’cause Diane is the one I look for to bring it with dresses. And the dresses were just too boxy and not hot. As a French friend used to say to me with a French accent, “Not sexy….like a dog’s breast.” Oh well, times are tough, not every designer was born to shine when it’s all batton-the-hatches and nose-to-the-grindstone-y.

Krelwear, the label created by Karelle Levy in 2004, creates knitwear apparel that  has cultivated a loyal fan base over the years.The line combines minimal cuts with unique textiles and creative construction and a mixture of fibers.

We got to meet Karelle and her team,Daria and Eva at Expose NY  while they were executing Krel-to-go .  A unique approach to making one- of -a -kind  custom pieces .

We asked readers last week to send in images of themselves in a pair of Chucks to win a free pair from the Converse Rock ‘n’ Roll series (available at Journeys). We had a very tough time deciding between the final two, but we had to give it to Kimberly, who had the moxie/style to pair pearls and a formal dress with customized Chucks (with a call out to our very own Brooklyn no less)! Congrats Kimberly–you rock!

I have not been impressed with belts in along time, but Borba Margo, designed by Jessica Margo Goransson and Anderson Borba Da Silva, have changed that. The accessory line  features pieces that are well made, modern and also edgy  and elegant. I’m totally smitten!

Boy by Band of Outsiders is a low key brand with a cult following and after their show at New York Fashion week forFall 2009 I have no doubt that their fan base will be on the rise. The collection was inspired by legendary film maker Jean-Luc Godard’s effortlessly chic French school girls in his film “La Chinoise.” While the line may have been inspired by these revolutionary and rebellious young women it is the bits and pieces of menswear, done with the perfect amount of femininity, that really stand out.

For Autumn/Winter 2009 the C.neeon designers Clara Leskovar and Doreen Schulz were inspired  by the Russian artist and designer Sonia Terk Delaunay,  co-fonder of  Orphism,  an art movement rooted in cubism that defined painting as “the bringing together of a sensation of bright colors.”

Called “One cannot live without champagne and gypsies,” the collection is bright, fun  with an air of nonchalance, that makes it all the more irresistible.

Phillip Lim sent his models down the runway in these Christian Louboutins and I’m not sure how he could get anyone to pay attention to anything that was above the girls ankles. The Dillian platform with ruffles down the front comes in silver and gold patent leather, pink and grey snakeskin, and  a bright red colored leather that has an amazing tint of  blood orange. I could possibly spend the rest of my life in these shoes happily. I’m not joking.

I found Nervous system a while ago and have been tracking their collections over the past year or so. They are really consistent with their designs and they just keep getting better. Nervous System’s knack for intricacy and delicacy on big statement pieces is what sets them apart. They cite nature as an inspiration drawing from coral, honey comb, and even the moon to create their pieces. The necklace and bracelet above remind me of a spider web and the ribbon detail on the stainless steel bracelet is just perfect
