James Franco just released the trailer for The Director, a Gucci documentation that centres on Gucci creative director Fridi Giannini. For the movie, James Franco and team followed Frida over a period of 18 months and therefore offers a more than extraordinary insight into the Gucci empire. The movie already premiered on April 21 during the Tribeca Film festival.

Gucci has plans to team with Japanese manga artist Hirohiko Araki on a series of illustrations designed for store windows, a campaign that is planned to launch today. Titled “Joylne, Fly High With Gucci,” the illustrations (see two of them above) will tell the tale of a journey taken by character Jolyne Cujoh, whose travels feature fashion and other goods featuring many of Gucci’s rich design themes. Gucci has just revealed its second “Forever Now” campaign, featuring Charlotte Casiraghi, the granddaughter of the late Princess Grace. The campaign is themed around Casiraghi, as shot over the course of the year’s four seasons by four famed photographers. Photographer Peter Lindbergh was the first in March, and now the well-know duo of Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin handle the latest images. Equestrian elements are also an ongoing theme, a shared passion of both Gucci and Casiraghi. Via Fashion Telegraph

Gucci premieres its Premiere fragrance campaign featuring Blake Lively. She looks amazing we must say, and certainly the Europeans designers seem to adore her, but at some point soon we’d like to see her beef up her work resume a bit, needed if she wants her “pretty face” work to have some legs.

Functioning like a logo, the dinstinct red and green color bands that shout Gucci mean the label doesn’t need to do much to make an item “fancy.”

Gucci for Milan Fashion Week took a turn toward its more classic/elegant side and as such there wasn’t much to sink one’s teeth into where accessories were concerned. That being said, the sandals featured here were completely amazing as were some tres chic shimmery, clutches featuring gold chain details and tassels. New York fashion photographer Julia Chesky snapped the Gucci window recently and got up close and personal with this pair of earthy espadrilles.  It’s a look that doesn’t exactly spring to mind when one things of the slickness that is Gucci, but no matter, somehow they totally work.

Took the subway into the City this morning with Samia to chat sneakers with someone from a certain powerhouse brand and Samia mentioned on the train that the fashion internets were somewhat freaking about Kim wearing the above cutout Gucci dress, which is from the label’s Spring 2011 collection. It’s been worn not just by her, but by a bunch of other celebs and has landed some covers, too.

When I got home, indeed, her look was getting a lot of mentions. And I’ll be honest, like anyone else I suffer from Kardashian fatigue from time to time, but I always appreciate how these girls continue to bump up against the rules of what’s supposedly appropriate in fashion. So keep doing your thing, Ms. Kardashian, and fill out every inch of that outfit and look very damn sexy doing so.
