A follow up on our post announcing G-Star’s Women’s Night event, which Highsnobette attended as featured bloggers for the Prince/Lafayette store in SoHo. That’s DJ Chelsea Leyland who spun for the ladies-only soiree, which included hair and make-up touch-ups, denim manicures, and hors d’oeuvres. The amazing part is the G-Star pulled off this event in 141 stores worlwide!
As my winging-it self is inclined, I arrived with somewhat wet hair–sadly not because it was raining either–and the ladies manning the hair station still managed sans blow dryers even to pull together a very awesome hair did for me (which thanks to champagne and high levels of post-event tequilla I didn’t manage to undo until oh-like four days later, but it still looked amazing even then!) Special thanks to G-Star p.r. star Ida Khabazian who pulled off the whole thing with her usual fierce yet smiling aplomb.
There are more images from the NY event on the next page. As well, a bunch of the attendees, including myself, pulled G-Star looks for the event and you can visit here to get a look at some of the highlights from around the globe.

Business was buzzing at G-Star’s booth at Project, where the brand was all about its distressed denim looks, an ongoing theme for the brand, but was also showing some new silhouettes including jumpsuits and the very trend-friendly poncho. On this page we get a look at a very cozy wool version and a sportier denim one after the flip. Thanks as always to G-Star’s champion p.r. rep, Ida! (Stop by and congratulate her if you’re at the show…won’t give away details, but she is having a grrrreat year!)
We showed some of the denim looks from the G-Star Raw line, which features actress Liv Tyler as its spokesmodel. Here are some behind-the-scenes looks from the summer ad campaign, shot by Anton Corbijn. From what I can see, we’re definitely getting a look at the more serious side of Liv Tyler, who has always struck me as having a light spirit sort of in the same vein as Kate Hudson.
Selectism reports the launch of : “The RAW City Guide New York iPhone/iTouch app featuring the tastiest restaurants, the coolest bars and clubs, the hippest stores and the hottest art galleries. All these locations are chosen for a youthful audience of art, design and fashion lovers.”
In conjunction with New York Fashion Week, G-Star has also announced the winners of their social media competition. “A Canadian tweeter, an Italian photographer, an American YouTube presenter and a Belgian Facebook fanatic will be sent to New York. A special mash-up page on the G-Star site will go live on February 14, showing all the tweets, blogs, photos and videos from the RAW Reporters and celebrities at Fashion Week.
Taking into account the power of the “voice of the people” G-star is launching the ” Be The Next G-Star Raw Reporter” an opportunity for “The world’s best Tweeters, Flickrs, Facebookers and YouTube film-makers to be recruited to file raw reports live from the most exciting fashion week in the world.” NYC. When I read that Christopher Kane criticized blogs , as being too negative , I of course agreed( it can be a blood bath out there) but I also thought he needed to HighSnobette ! Cause in these parts we strive not to be negative and bash just for the sake of bashing. We have the freedom to say what we wan, but have always chosen to question, admire , and challenge the fashion presented to us, with the intent of doing better and sharing opinions respectfully . Although I personnally would take Paris or Milan in heartbeat , NYC is indeed pretty hot during fashion week! For all the info visit nyfw.g-star.com.
When I arrived at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where G-Star staged their spring/summer 2010 fashion show , I had the marvel at the grandiose aspect of the production. This was truly show. With a three lane runway and moving cylinders where the models silouettes would appear before their proceeded unto the runway. The apparel in true G-Star fashion is edgy and urban with alot or white and various shades of blue making this Spring/ Summer 2010 collection a lot brighter and somewhat optimistic for this label whose aesthetic tends to be darker and industrial. On the next page a few of my fave looks.
True to their industrial /modernist aesthetic , here’s a look at the latest G-Star Autumn/Winter 2009 campaign featuring Elettra Wiedemann( Isabella Rossellini’s daughter) and cutie Toby Keblel. More images on the next page. via neo2.
