For Fendi’s Spring 2012 leather shoes and bags perforated leather was the uniting theme. In my mind Fendi is positioned as the badass lux brand so meh, a little disappointed by this accessory collection, which felt a little too good girl to me….like, the candy-colored studs just made me sad. Still, there were a couple of items that stood out, like the straw bag with the leather front flat featured here–very wicked. And then there are some feather-trimmed clutches that are interesting. You can see them on the next page and see for yourself if you agree or disagree. All via Style.

The Fendi colored-lens sunglasses that everyone was oohing and ahhing over from the Spring 2011 runway are starting to hit retail. According to a commentor on Fendi’s Facebook page these are limited to the extreme and only available at Fendi stores in North America. Even it the commentor is correct, one has to assume that eventually they’ll show up at all Fendi stores.

The Fendi Made To Measure fur event at the Fendi 5th Avenue boutique in New York, is happening until this Friday May 6th. Fur experts from Roman Atelier take you through the process of creating your own one of a kind fur piece. On the next page we give you a closer look at the event, courtesy of Fendi. Fur, yes we know is controversial, however, as an observation of the luxury business and customization, this is an endeavor to watch…

Beautiful quality and workmanship…..nobody does mean and vicious better than Fendi. Designer Karl Lagerfeld may receive far more recognition for his Chanel bags, but looking at his bag designs for Fendi, one gets the feeling this label is his secret favorite, or at least the one that allows him to most express the devil within. For most fashion lovers, Fendi bags and furs are always high on the covet list. For Autumn, the flat-front remains the bag silhouette du jour, while furs take on the relaxed appearance of a robe one might throw on while entertaining good friends. It’s an equation that’s turned on its head by the fur itself which is anything but laid back, but rather bold and very rock ‘n’ roll. More on the next page.

These Fendi sandals are way too high to be “flatforms,” everyone’s favorite new silhouette, but there something about the design that does speak to the trend. Featuring a wooden heel, what’s kind of extra about these shoes is the two-toned, mixed materials story, with satin in the front and leather in the back. Via Colette.

First there was Marc Jacob’s fur tails being hung from everything in sight, and now via TheLoveMagazine, Fendi steps up with it’s fur puff-ball charm. Insanely delightful and would look oh-so-cute attached to a bag or even as a charm on a bracelet.

While looking at images of Fendi’s Autumn 2009 Milan show, I couldn’t help but feel like a douchebag idiot. A while back I had thrown up a backstage shot of a model holding a Fendi bad, which was clearly going to be directional. I was right about that, but complained that the model messed the shot up by allowing the bag to be photographed with the clasp undone. Well duh, as you can see from the bag featured on the left above, the open look was intentional! Personally, this bugs me. Function matters to me and I don’t like anything too askew. Avant garde I am really not. I mean can you imagine trying to walk down the streets of BK with this shite? Half the people you’d pass would be tapping you on the shoulder pointing out your open bag and the other half would be thinking what a dumb broad that chick is and serves her right if she gets all her shit jacked!

One more Fendi bag after the flip.

Fendi’s recent runway show was totally blah, but in looking over the images at Style, I was 100 percent smitten by one of the featured bags. There weren’t any great shots of it there, but I checked over at photographer Sonny’s site and natch, he had some great ones of this very it bag.

^^Modeled backstage by Angela Lindvall, who, come on, Ma, you’re a model, you should know better. Close the damn bag so it doesn’t look like half a hot mess!
