slove premiere page

Thanks to Expose ny we had the opportunity to preview Sally Lapointe & Sarah Adelson’s   S.LOVE  collection. The concept of S.LOVE is to create artistically driven pieces where each piece is rendered unique by an un -replicated   hand made process. For their 2009 Collection  S.LOVE chose a dark color palette  of black that gently fades into purple and white which we love ! With a sleek and edgy sensibility we can definitely see this young label in the assortment of HighSnobette favorites like Oak,  Opening Ceremony, Shopbob, 80spurple and Forward. On the next page a closer look at our favorite pieces from S.LOVE.

farrah 3 Expose NY : Bambou by Farrah Delaunay

I cannot by any means consider myself a bag person. For the most part  I  get wrapped up in details, craftmanship  and, end up rocking the same one for years. When I saw Farrah Delaunay’s (above)  line “Bambou”  though, I wanted all her bags in all their glorious mix of  leather  and colorful  African fabrics. Being caribbean, living in Brooklyn it’s easy to see the use of ethnic fabrics in fashion as repetitive. However,  Farrah’s use of classic shapes and great details like  metal zippers, tassels, allows the bags to be  relevant to a fashion that is globally accessible,  and not stuck in a  ”type” or ethnicity. Look on the next page for a closer look at “Bambou”.

shadow3 Shadows & Dust @ Expose NY

One of the best conversations I had at expose ny was with Stephen  Jones from Shadows& Dust and his partner the super talented photographer Amanda De Simone. We talked about fashion, life in places where there are no rules and the fact that trends don’t make fashion! Great crafted pieces like Shadows & Dust  are truly timeless and edgy at the same time,Those are the kind of pieces you keep, regardless of what Vogue says, quality never goes out of style… I was totally smitten!
