The athletes were out in force for ESPN’s Espy awards on Sunday, a mostly fun event that gives nods to athletes and teams that stood out the previous year. The ladies showed lots of leg–that’s gorgeous tennis player Maria Sharapova above–while the fellas were all suited up and looking very slick. Though as far as style goes, I hate to say it but the NBA has it all over the NFL!
See Serena (with awesome mani, natch!), Estelle, Lindsey Vonn (who won female athlete of the year), Danica Patrick, Nicole Lyons, Laila Ali, Amare Stoudemire (sans Ciara, guess that’s over) and a few more.
Here is an image of Nicki Minaj, who was one of many celebs in attedance for the BET award show last night. The lighting was definitely not very friendly so kudos to all the celebs who still managed to look great.
More images on the next page, including Eve, Amber Rose, Cassie, Ashanti, Estelle and a few others.
INSA featured this Estelle video on his site recently because it features his shoes (at .16 and .23), but forget all that, who is the light-skinned cutie she falls in love with?? Wow. Borderline too cute. And there’s Nas, too, who seems to be 100 percent over his divorce and is as thuggy handsome as ever.
There was quite the cornucopia of dresses for the BET awards this past weekend. Ciara looked very chic in what I assume is Givenchy, but a bit too gothic for the month of June (tho her mani is good–it looks like a gold and white Ruffian). Estelle gets my vote for best dressed though she and everyone else in general was sort of toned down. There was one, okaaaaaay-dress, worn by Brittany Daniel, but points to her for taking a chance and providing people the opportunity to point and whisper.
Rachel Roy and singer Estelle are joining forces on a jewelry collection which Rachel is going to preview as a pop-up store on her Facebook page on February 9th for three days only. The collection includes rings, ear cuffs and necklaces and ranges in price from $34-$50. If you become a fan of Rachel, you’ll have the opportunity to buy the collection on-line, and some items–like the ultra-cool, full-finger petal ring featured above, will only be sold on her site.
(And on a side note, good on Rachel for moving past her high-profile marriage and actually doing the darn thing. I had my doubts about her whole delve into fashion not being very serious, but I’m happy to say she’s proved me wrong, wrong wrong!)
One more image of Rachel and Estelle, wearing a very neat dress after the flip.
When first I spied Estelle in Kanye’s "American Boy" video, I thought, excellent, here’s a personable, up-and-coming British pop star who’s gonna bring the fashion. But that just didn’t happen. I posted once about her tendency to dress for events like she’s attending church, but bagging on celebs nonstop really isn’t my thing so I just kept it moving when I saw images of her. On that note, I’m happy to report that Estelle actually looked great at a recent concert she did in Brooklyn.
^^Skin is shining, dress is blazing, accessories correct, AND she finally realized the importance of a tight manicure!! Woohoo! Go Estelle! Maybe in Brooklyn she finally got to see what’s good!

Puma is linking arms with recent project runway winner, Christian Siriano, to design a 15 piece line. The collaboration was kicked off at a party that was also celebrating British singer Estelle’s CD release. In the image below she’s wearing a dress designed by Mr. Fierce < ----(is he gonna live and die by that tag or what???). Will this collabo give Puma a much-needed injection of fashion that Stella gave Adidas? I kinda don't think so, but we'll see.
The outfit was put together by ripping apart and reconstructing some Puma tops and bottoms. The dress is fine, but she could lose the necklace thinger. And check out Christian. He’s wearing a Puma sweater, but what about his sneakers??
On another note, I’ve been looking for an excuse to post up Estelle’s collabo with Kanye and I finally have it! Forget the music, check out the HOT men this video features! “I’ve never been to Brooklyn and I’d like to know what’s good!”
