Awards shows almost always make my stylist heart weep a little.  While I’m sure that the intent is to make the artists look their best, the result often does not translate well into images. Miss Erykah Badu so far is my Snobette winner for the VH1 divas show aired last night. The cape, neon nails and eye wear were too fun to ignore. While we love the picture and consider ourselves  in appreciation of Ms. Badu’s irreverent style, the henna design on her leg is really a highlight. Living in a little Pakistan enclave in Brooklyn, we’ve been blessed to be able to rock some pretty fierce  Mehndi designs. Erykah Badu’s style choices are often interesting, but she totally heightened her game by wearing our beloved Manish Arora s/s ‘09 . I believe I’m  accurate in saying this dress is his, since his designs often get simplified for retail. Pretty cool hey, Style.com watch out ! via wwd and wire. More views on the flip.

Erykah performed at the Fox Theater in support of her recent record release. Not sure how I feel about the dress. Maybe I’d like it more in a cocktail-drinking type setting.

Our man Barry speaks often of his candidacy as one that is both hopeful and desirous of new beginnings. One that leaves behind the acrimonious politics that we the people have been literally choking on for the past eight years. Clearly his message has struck a chord with many. But could it be while he stirs our hopes for the future, he also helps us remember and give life to the still beautiful parts of our pasts?
