Jessica Biel Elle 3 Jessica Biel For U.S. Elle January 2013
Jessica Biel was shot by Thomas Whiteside for U.S. Elle’s January 2013 issue in the beautiful setting of some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks. Biel wears the spring collections of top designers including Isabel Marant, Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaïa, Christian Louboutin and others, some of whom are featured alongside the actress. The editorial does not cover a specific theme, rather its focus is the look and feel of each brand as a point of reference for each image.

Just ’cause Solange’s status as a fashionable, Ft. Greene, Brooklyn it girl is in full bloom and paying returns, you didn’t think she was going to put down her music aspirations, now did you? Nope, in fact she is right now in Cape Town, South Africa, filming the video to an upcoming single, titled, “Losing You.” An album will follow, the third for Solange, who has song writing credits including “Get Me Bodied” and Upgrade U,” written for her sister, Beyonce. While working on the video, Solange is also shooting for an editorial in an upcoming issue of Elle magazine. Take a look at our Top 5 covers of the week. This week’s most eye-catching cover for me is the 136th issue of Numéro displaying Lindsey Wixson and Edie Campbell.  Wixson already has been featured several times on the magazine’s cover, but this time looks more nymph-like than ever.

Which one is your favourite?

Elle Magazine What Happened????

rihanna Elle Magazine What Happened????

Now We have clearly established at Highsnobette that Rihanna can pretty much rock anything and look Fly, And we have also praised the fact that Elle magazine has been rocking great editorials and fashion stories..

How disspointed was I when I finally saw this Cover… I totally dissagree with the outfit choice..No offense to the stylist but dear, this woman has the ability to do so much more than a pouffy dress  and big hoops…(granted the dress is Donna Karan but it could also be forever21!!)Not that forever 21 lacks fashion cred… I made a killing there yesterday shopping for a client…

Nevertheless, the outfits inside the mag were alot better But Come on Elle Mag!!! From Madonna’s Uber May issue cover to this…I can’t …

Madonna: Cover of Elle Magazine

14 April 2008, 16.53 | Posted in Books | No comments »

Madonna is on the cover of May’s Elle magazine looking her usual hot and charismatic self, qualities brought to the forefront by Tom Munro’s outstanding photography.

As far as Ms. Ciccone-Ritchie is concered, I have this theory that the more nicknames a person has, the more legendary. In the case of Madonna we have: Boy Toy, Madge, Daisy, Mo, Material Girl, Esther. etc.

I rest my case.

Here’s a taste of the shoot:

Madonya2 Madonna: Cover of Elle Magazine

^^She’s wearing a silk/cashmere sweater by Halston; a patent vinyl bra by Deborah Marquit and those ultra-sick boots? Why Miu Miu of course!

And on another note, but still speaking of Elle magazine, by now I take it you know that Nina Garcia is out from her job as fashion director as Elle. I know there’s a lot of speculation about what happened, but I’m thinking they gave her the shove ’cause she just didn’t have time with all her other Fashion Runway obligations to do her job right! All that gossip being said, the very latest update from MediaBistro is that she’s still in talks with Elle to keep up some sort of mutually beneficial connection.

Late-breaking update: I am so on it! I was just reading this snippet on PerezHilton:

“She became too busy with Project Runway the last year to two,” a mag insider tells us. “Nina had been spending about 8 hours a week on average actually in the office and working, and had her 2 assistants doing all of her work for her.”

Did I not say that exact same thing??

I Hate These Shoes

01 April 2008, 15.53 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

I’m considering just giving up and being in a foul mood today. Usually I fight surly feelings, but dammit, if you, like me, like in New York, you look outside your window it’s hard NOT to be annoyed. Yet another gloomy, sort of cold day, which would be okay, except that this is about the 180th day in a row that we’ve had this weather! C’mon Ma Nature, give us a break! Or at least a peak at the sun that lasts for more than two hours!

On that craptastic note, there are two designer shoe styles this “spring” that have been getting tons of editorial press. I’ve been hemming and hawing on my feelings for them, but recently I made a decision to just flat out hate them. It’s news to note ’cause normally I like both of these designers and also, I’m not quick to hate. There’s stuff I love and then there’s all the other shoes that I couldn’t care less about.

Here they are, as featured in the last issue of Elle magazine (which I still love):

ShoesIHate.jpg I Hate These Shoes

^^Ignore the green shoe. I don’t who it’s by and I don’t care. First up, the weirdo heel shoe, No. 3, by Marc Jacobs. It just looks dumb and it seems like it’s being different just to be different. Like there’s no substance or thought behind it. Part of it I guess is I’ve never been a fan of whimsy when it comes to fashion. Everything in its place and a place for everything and don’t try and put pom-poms on the hem of a dress and think it’s cute ’cause everyone knows the only place they look right is on a piece of furniture. Same with this heel–put it where it belongs! And then the Giuseppe Zanotti shoe in the back. At first I thought I liked it, but the more I looked at it the less I did. I’m sorry, but even with the cut out, it’s too clunky and difficult looking, and it keeps reminding me of a comedy I once saw, featuring a pimp whose platforms contained a mini-aquarium, complete with goldfish. Smack some plexi-glass on Guiseppe’s shoes, throw some fish in there and you’d have the same deal.

Bitterly yours,

Gucci: Frida & Elle Put It Down!

18 February 2008, 20.38 | Posted in Books, Fashion | No comments »

Elle magazine has been killing it for a while now. That it’s not considered to be the premiere mainstream U.S. fashion mag–hands down over Vogue–is something I do not get at all. Or maybe Ms. Wintour is working some mojo that is beyond my realm of understanding. Heh, B prolly sold her damn soul to the devil is what it is.

Anyway, great feature on the new sheriffette at Gucci, Frida Giannini. ‘Member not very long ago when folks were freaking OUT when Tom Ford left, predicting all sorts of doom and gloom? Well, they aint sweating his departure any more are they? In fact, what in the hell is he doing these days anyway? Fine as ole Tom may be, shoot, Santino’s getting more play than him these days.

Here’s a sampling of some images from the Gucci shoot I liked. (Though, on a side note, fashion-smashion, let it be known that the VAST majority of $$$ this company makes is from bag sales. The clothing isn’t a significant money maker.)

^^Say hello to Frida. She says: “The Gucci woman now can wear high heels but she doesn’t want to die in them.” Whatever that means!
