LuLu Kennedy, she of Far East Fame (a collective created to promote young talent), recently launched LuLu & Co, a fashion label consisting of key pieces Fashion East designers have produced since the program began in 2000. The dress featured here is a collaborative effort with House of Holland being sold at Colette. There are eight more designer collaborations at the site with Kennedy, but this one stood out as a piece so timelessly artful you’d keep it forever or at least until you could pass it on to your daughter.  See the entire dress after the flip.

Minx nail have arrived in the Beauty Bar department of  Paris’s Colette, featuring over 140 designs.  The trademark Colette polka-dots shown on the Minx nails on this page were tweeted by Colette creative director and buyer, Sarah, last week. Colette along with DC Comics has invited a bunch of fashion’s heaviest hitters to celebrate the publishing house’s 75th anniversary by collaborating on a design inspired by a DC Comic super hero.  A Pierre Hardy bag  inspired by Clark Kent’s alter ego is featured on this page, and on the next page is a Wonder Woman dress by Sonia Rykiel, driving gloves by Karl Lagerfeld, tee-shirts by My Face and Balmain, plus a super cool Wonder Woman headband by Maison Michel and some sunglasses by Thierry Lasry.  

Oh how I desire to own a fur bag for this fall, and this one by Yves Saint Laurent is as delicious an offering as any I have seen. Featuring Impala fur, it is now available at Colette, though only a mere 55 mortals will get to slide their hands all over it.

E2 designers Michele & Olivier Chatenet use vintage fabrics to create tops and dresses, which are silky, sexy and sophisticated. In other words, everything that is most delicious about French fashion. Available at Colette.

Amsterdamn-based, fashion house Viktor & Rolf puts its own very special stamp on the hybrid gladiator/bootie profile for Spring 2010. You can’t see it so well in this image, but the stamp on the side of the shoe is what puts it over the top. Good for those nights when you’re sick of taking everyone’s b.s. Pair these heels with a black hoodie and a sullen face and let people know you’re not as nice as they think you are.

Colette’s web store is now carrying some of  Lanvin’s Spring/Summer 2009 line of  handbags. Small clutches and coin purses make up the lot of silk leopard print pieces where details include bows, sequins, and bead work. Head designer for Lanvin, Alber Elbaz never ceases to amaze and dazzle and these bags are no exception. Every detail was thought out and the quality is top notch, making the high price tags a little easier to swallow.

Colette has brought us a few pieces from Jean-Charles De Castelbajac’s endearing collection titled  “J-C in the sky with Diamonds”.  A sequin dress, pumps, and two polo tees are blatantly inspired by childhood friend Mickey Mouse. The  shoes even come complete with the Disney character’s signature little black nose and tail, a conversation piece for sure!

Alexis Mabille s/s 2009 runway

Being the eldest girl of Caribbean parents, I can assure you that I have worn bows on pretty much every part of my anatomy without exagerrating . Bows/ribbons in the hair to match the dress with a bow at the collar,  a bow at the waist,  bows in front of the shoes , on the side  of lace socks. You get the picture.

After struggles and discussions they( the bows)  gradually left my hair at 13 and subsequently left my wardrobe fully at about 16.  Needless to say they (the bows) have scarred me somehow and caused me to develop a subtle aversion to gratuitous girlishness that  to me equate to bows.

Alexis Mabille deserves an award for creating sandals with bows that were able to tranform my aversion to admiration.  Available at Colette.
