Christopher Kane presented an amazing Autumn/Winter 2013-14 collection which included an impressive 61 designs. Looks stayed true to signature looks like velvet dresses, kilts and floral appliqués so now we can put aside fears that’s the label’s purchase by luxury conglomerate  PPR will constrain Kane, rather it appears the investment is helping him spread his wings.

A classic silhouette updated with a pop of neon is all that is required for these boots to go from okay to awesome. Now available at Net-a-porter also in hot pink.

We have a first view of Christopher Kane’s collection for pre-Autumn 2013, featuring of mix of dark hues–cobalt blue, black and purple, often featuring nocturnal flowers and animal spots on feminine yet boxy silhouttes that run the gamut from dressy shorts and knee-length skirts to long dresses.  And let’s not forget the icy grey ocelot fur jacket–delicious! All in all, the line has a bit of an eerie edge, which is no coincidence. Kane says the line was in part inspired by Hammer horror films, favorite of his growing up.

Le Nouvel Observateur announced just a few hours ago that  Nicholas Ghesquière’s  (whose official last day is November 30th) role of creative director for Balenciaga   has been filled  by Christopher Kane. Geez that was fast! Kane created a real fashion buzz with his Gorilla tees a few years ago and apparent fear of bloggers.We wish him the best, #Noshade.

UPDATE: Turns out, it was too good to be true. A spokesman of Christopher Kane just denied the speculation in a statement to WWD saying: “Rumors surrounding Christopher Kane’s appointment as creative director of Balenciaga are unfounded.” So the suspense continues. Who do you guess will take over the position?

While there is a cool sci-fi /futuristic appeal to rocking a gel-filled clutch, there is an obvious resemblance to something many of us may have had as a toy and of course an athletic gel pack.
