I have been a little obsessed with Boxing Kitten’s bustier for next Spring. Taking inspiration from Cat Woman the new collection features lots of black ( which I love) mixed with pops of color, lots of jumpsuits and curve hugging styles.  Maya Lake’s chic blend of  retro silhouettes and traditonal African fabrics has made   Boxing Kitten  one of our favorites. And it’s all made in NYC! Highsnob (and Solange) fave Boxing Kitten has posted up its new looks for Autumn 2011, and this time around designer Maya Amina Lake shows longer hemlines and works in some solid-colored, transparent fabrics, which contrast gorgeously with  the brand’s signature African prints. Via Trendoracle.

Wrapping up our coverage of Capsule trade show in New York last week, we bring you some looks from Boxing Kitten’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. In a shift away from the super bright colors, which have been a theme, designer Maya Lake’s offerings included some black and white blouses, her very first solid-colored garments. And even with the dress shown here, the African-inspired pattern play remains, but again, there’s a shift away from vibrancy, which was very much in step with what we were seeing on the floor of the show in general–colors more subdued with newness generated by silhouettes, fabric innovation, and detailing (which is why I think the Prada rumor is true–bright color just aint “it” for Spring).

Boxing Kitten, whose designs have been worn by Rihanna, Beyonce and Fergie, showed its resort 2010 collection last night on the SoHo rooftop. Designed by Brooklyn-born Maya Lake, the line is fun and sunny and right in step with the tribal revival that fashion is in the midst of. On the next page, get a closer look at the print shoes, which are a collaboration between Boxing Kitten and Osborn, plus images of  the designer–she’s wearing a brown chiffon dress, and some of the stylish guests that attended. (And take a closer look at the model in the cropped top and shorts, yep, that’s Naima Mora, the winner of ANTM, cycle 4! UPDATE: Nope, I’m told it’s actually her twin sister Mora; however, Naima IS in the lookbook. Phew!)
