WAH Streets 3 We Are Handsome Introduces The Streets Collection

We Are Handsome is fairly known for their beautiful swimwear and bodysuits and we at Highsnobette are true fans since its creation in 2009. For each collection designerIndhra Chagoury and Jeremy Somers choose a different topic and unite fine cuts and the  arts to  create a far-out line of colorful pieces. In its latest collection,”The Streets,” the brand worked with different artists who added their personal “street” designs to the collection. So the “Beatboxer” bodysuit includes the  WAH monogram  designed by Scottish Media Artist Christine Berrie and for “The Motel” bodysuit, Australian photographer Trevor King produced the print, which emerged from his recent trip to Vegas.

The collection is now available now on Asos.com, Barneys.com and in store at Barneys New York.

Check out the lookbook after the jump.

Louboutin x Barney’s Windows

ChristianLouboutinBarneysChesky 540x351 Louboutin x Barneys Windows

Barney’s gives Christian Louboutin his props with a set of store windows dedicated to the red-soled brand, on display now in its Madison Avenue New York, store. Barney’s creative director, Dennis Freedman, was interviewed by Fashionetc (accompanying images shot by Julia Chesky) about the project and had this to say on working with Louboutin:

“Christian has an extraordinary imagination. You see that in his work, but also when you’re with him. He’s a very rare person; it goes well beyond the design of his shoes. The idea of working with someone like that is very exciting. We wanted not just to display the shoes, but reinterpret the shoes—to create a sculpture. That intensified and magnified the design of the shoe. So everything begins with his shoe and creative vision and ends with making it ours. It’s been an incredibly exciting experience.”

Freedman also chats about the upcoming window collaboration with Lady Gaga and says, “I think I won’t be exaggerating to say that’s it’s an incredibly ambitious project on all levels. It will be a big gift to New York City, one that I really believe will be fun and exciting and bring all of her spirit and energy to the store.”

Alexander Wang Interviewed By Simon Doonan For Barney’s

26 September 2011, 18.02 | Posted in Designer news, Retail, Steal From The Boys | No comments »

Alexander Wang’s menswear collection recently had its exclusive launch at Barney’s, and the department store’s creative ambassador (interesting title!), Simon Doonan, had a chat with Wang on the offerings and who he had in mind as a customer when he created his designs. But the most revealing part of the interview is not about the clothes but the conditioner Wang uses to keep his locks so enviably luxurious. According to Wang he doesn’t use conditioner and appears to be a part of the anti-shampoo brigade, opting for a brand called No-Poo.  Such a Downtowner at heart that Wang is.

Carine’s World: Part 1 & 2

As part of her work with hip, U.S. retailer Barney’s, we get a peek at the daily life of Carine Roitfeld. It’s quite nice to look at, but dificult to understand for the most part because of her accent. Which is a shame because when she did speak understandably she said sweet things like,

“People are more important than the clothes. Clothes could be a nice envelope, but it’s more important the letter inside the envelope.”

Oui c’est vrais, Madame Roitfeld! Part 2 on the next page.

Alexander Wang Profiled By Barneys

AlexanderWangTheBigBang Alexander Wang Profiled By Barneys

Alexander Wang is profiled and interviewed in Barney’s weekly “Big Bang” column, which is dedicated to the early days of designers the department store is fond of. In Wang’s case, the relationship is special because they were the first big retailer to recognize his talent and provide him with a springboard. Here’s Wang’s response to one of the questions–as is often the case, an unwillingness to be deterred was part of the DNA for his label’s eventual success:

Barneys:  So, who was the first to pick up those wares in the suitcase?

Wang: In the beginning, we tried calling every showroom to represent us, nobody would return our calls or give us even a meeting.  So, we took the collection ourselves to the tradeshow and signed Barneys on the first day.

And on another note, how about the fabulous black and white shot of Wang used to accompany the article?? We’ve always thought he was a looker, but wow, he’s almost alien-beautiful in this image!

Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony

Chloe sevigny x opening ceremony

In my eyes Chloe Sevigny can do no wrong. One of my favorite actresses and style inspirations, I find her choices to be really courageous. Her latest collaboration with Opening Ceremony showed at London Fashion week and it’s no exception to Chloe’s eclectic aesthetic. The unisex line has teamed up with Bass to expand the collection from RTW to footwear, now including saddle shoe boots, gladiator style wedge sandals, and loafers.  Expect lots of over-sized pieces good for layering including accessories, such as scarves, that had a large part on the overall look. The use of materials such as moleskin and tweed had a very Sherlock Holmes kind of feel to it. Prices start at just $95 and the collection will be available at Opening Ceremony, Colette, Dover Street Market, and Barneys.

More after the jump.
