This may not be the kind of publicity Balenciaga was seeking for its Paris Fashion Week runway show yesterday. Apparently someone went cheap on seating (who was responsible for THAT decision–omg, the horror for him/her) and the benches all started cracking and attendees were forced to stand throughout the show.  Check out the image above–folks are looking real happy, aren’t they?

Of course the fashion press will jump all over this story and rightly so because truth be told presentation is everything when it comes to a runway show, but one has to guess regular news outlets will have some fun with this story, too, because, well, in general the media despises the fashion industry with all its snooty, better-than-thou airs and relishes moments when it falls on its face or in this literal case….its backside!

The finale from Balenciaga’s  Autumn/Winter Paris Fashion Week presentation, via Purple magazine.

The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute in New York, is opening an exhibit titled “Balenciaga: Spanish Master,” on November 19th.  Conceived by Oscar de la Renta, who is chairman of the organization’s board, this tribute will…

“….be the first to consider the impact of Spain’s culture, history and art on one of its greatest twentieth-century sons, the legendary designer Cristóbal Balenciaga (1895-1972). Hailed as “Fashion’s Picasso” by Cecil Beaton, Balenciaga’s innovations transformed the way women dressed, from the opening of his Paris fashion house in 1937 until his retirement in 1968.”

The exhibit will showcase more than 70 items of  Balenciaga clothing and accessories Image above features a Balenciaga “Infanta” evening dress from 1939. Sounds amazing!

Balenciaga, the label loved by design fanatics just showed its Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection and what stood out above all else was the color pallette. The shoes featured above should give you a very good feel for the predominant color themes of the collection. Me personally I have never lusted for the big B. I feel likes it’s over my head. As such, I’m not going to annoy the Balenciaga fans with my lackluster comments about the above shoes (images from Style). Perhaps my partner will chime in….

The practical in me loves Signerson Morrison’s version more, but there’s no denying that these brought the heat like no shoe has for quite some time.

These must have slipped my attention …of course they are part of the men’s line..Nonetheless,Balenciaga under the influence of Nicholas Guesquiere is of of course one of the Ultimates in My book !

One thing is for sure I think that Designer Kicks is where the market will trend with the economy Doing what it’s doing Stateside ,perceived values will be more important than ever,of course Jordan and Nike heads will go on but for the most part more end more I see  an  Unadorned high end  brand like Clae or Springcourt taking over the fashion side of the swoosh and the three stripes…At least for Guys,The women’s kicks world is just really taking off…

According to the most relentless email updaters on the planet, aka Racked.com, you can now buy Balenciaga online. Can’t say I’m too excited by that news. When I read a while back how broke up Kanye was that they denied him entry to their show, I was like, "Huh? Who the eff are they???" So I’m posting this ’cause I know it’s the cool brand that everyone who’s cool is into. Who knows, maybe I’m just being stoooopid and someone will explain it to me. It wouldn’t be the first time!
