Fendi Front Flap Bag Autumn 2011

VogueFendiAutumn2011 Fendi Front Flap Bag Autumn 2011

Beautiful quality and workmanship…..nobody does mean and vicious better than Fendi. Designer Karl Lagerfeld may receive far more recognition for his Chanel bags, but  looking at his bag designs for Fendi, one gets the feeling this label is his secret favorite, or at least the one that allows him to most express the devil within. Wayuu Taya Sling Bags

WayuTayaBag1 Wayuu Taya Sling Bags

Though we love to feature bags by the current hottest hands in the game (LV, Chanel, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Fendi, Hermes), who much like elite athletes make their greatness seem easy, it’s always nice to come across a label like Wayuu Taya, which makes up for label status with design strength and affordability. It’s an added bonus that the bags are made in the Guajira Peninsula in South America by the ladies of the Wayuu community, who receive a portion of the sales. Available at Bonadrag. You can also buy other colors direct from the Wayuu Taya Foundation.

See a wide array of color and pattern offerings on the next page.

Cole Haan Fall 2010: Upping the Bag Quotient

CHBag5 Cole Haan Fall 2010: Upping the Bag Quotient

Cole Haan has long been friend to the stylish working woman, providing classic with a hint of sass footwear that is truely all-day wearable. This year the company is putting extra focus on its bags collection. Materials are more lux and designs are more thoughtful and with more of an eye on longevity. We visited the (amazingly gorgeous) New York showroom last week to check out the Fall 2010 collection and the pony skin bag featured here stood out, but there are lots more after the jump that are equally worthy.

Rihanna’s Blazing Hot LV Drawstring Tote!

RihRihBagFront Rihannas Blazing Hot LV Drawstring Tote!

Rihanna has been spotted living it up in London recently. Nice to see her enjoying herself for a change.  More importantly, look at the LV drawstring tote she’s sporting! This one is from the Spring 2010 LV collection, which featured the controversial clogs. I am loving the new tassle trend and even though I’ve never been a big drawstring fan, this one has made me a convert, with its ever-so-cute wrist strap and the mix and match of LV leathers featured on the bag.

Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Bags: Puts Everyone Else to Shame

If you want, you can see photo stills of Marc’s collection over at Style, which has a cool feature that enables you to zero in on one or two of the model’s accessories. That’s where I pulled this bag image from.

MJSS09bag Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Bags: Puts Everyone Else to Shame

Marc is to bags like Nike is to sneakers. He does what he does so well that he makes it look simple. Like he was born to do it. And okay, he doesn’t always hit a homerun–the Rolls Royce bag springs to mind, but he usually does. (And to be honest, this photo doesn’t even do the bag justice and it’s not even the best one in the collection.)

J.Crew: Their F-Up is Your 15% Off Gain

29 August 2008, 19.03 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

I heard this past summer about J.Crew screwing up its etail biz so bad that it issued an online apology to customers. I figured by now the drama had passed, but when I received my fall catalog yesterday, I noticed that they were still handing out mea culpas. Apologies from corps register about a 1 on my Sincere-O-Meter so all their sorry sorries are meaningless to me. The good part is that as a way of making it up, J.Crew is offering customers a 15-percent-off code on online purchases. What’s the code? enter FALL at the checkout. The catch is that it’s full-priced stuff only.

^^Indigo patent lather quilted bag: $298 orginally; $253 with discount.

The other funny thing is that the CEO of J.Crew, Mickey Drexler, is fairly famous in the industry, and he signed the apology letter "Millard" Drexler. Haha, Millard, who knew that was short for Mickey??

Gucci Boots: Just Plain Sick

19 August 2008, 13.57 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Since a lot of you have given up your fashion mag subscriptions, I believe it is my duty to inform you that while they still suck for the most part, some of the ad images still kick ass. Case in point, these boots by Gucci:

GucciBoots Gucci Boots: Just Plain Sick

^^Pretty much perfect in every way.

I don’t know what it is about the Gucc, but lately I’ve been feeling that trademark red and green stripe. I mentioned a while ago that I was on the hunt for a Gucci belt featuring that stripe (think I’m gonna have to make a trip to Chinatown to fulfill that craving) and I’m waiting for delivery of a vintage suede Gucci bag with the same logo. I’ll bet you go through those inexplicable fashion longings sometimes, too, don’t you?

What’s up, everyone??
