Putting their undeniable skill at telling a story glamorously, Dean and Dan Caten’s Fall  2011 women’s collection  for Dsquared2 had me pleased. While the collection can  be seen as a little  costumey the dramatic fashion-loving fiend that is yours truly finds herself thoroughly seduced . The leather coat at 5:1o made me pause in admiration (sadly the model tripped a little).  Had they used wild wild west on the runway, I’d be in tears (of joy of course) Enjoy !

William Tempest and luxury footwear label Méchante of London join forces to unveil their Autumn/Winter 2011 collections in ‘Dia Anna’, a short film art directed by Egelnick and Webb.

Starring Amber Le Bon, it features the designers’ creations in an ethereal, eerie and magical world and is based on the persecution of witches throughout the 17th Century. For Autumn/Winter 2011 both designers focus on a shared inspiration with their collections taking on a sinister and more gothic feel being inspired by witchcraft, the occult and the macabre. With a shared British heritage and a dedicated approach to craftsmanship William Tempest and Deborah Lyons of Mechante of London are a complimentary pair, the creation of ‘Dia Anna’ continuing the collaboration between the brands. For their second collection for Nor Black Nor White,  Amrit Kumar and Mriga Kapadiya  explore the regions of Banara and Lucknow, two distinct areas known for their handwoven  brocades and embroideries. With a sense of nostalgia mixed with modern elements, Yestadt Millinery presented their Autumn/Winter collection last week in New York. There were a wide variety of shapes with a great attention to detail, creating hats that reflect the panache of  elegance. A closer look at the hats and presentation on the flip. Ivana Helsinki’s show at Lincoln Centers Studio ended Fashion Week with the peacefulness and slavic melancholy of Scandinavian moods. The show began with a beautiful film playing over the entrance of the runway, titled “Velvet Lake.” The name embodies the mood of the film and of the entire show– reocurring patterns in warm tones, flowly dresses, peacock feathers, knits and velvet and bold patterned boots. In many ways it was the label’s designer, Paola Ivana Suhonen, hommage to her Finnish heritage. The show felt moody and at times heavy, but at the same time like a fairy tale of young women, waiting to be told. Pictures and text Hannah Newbery.

With red carpets getting reviewed and the celebrities who dare to take fashion risks outside of  the acceptable ’ glam bridesmaid’ ending up on worst dressed lists ,we wonder what the future of the blonds collection will be. While the average woman probably cannot get away with a fringed sequined dress, the kimono dress on the left however we say dare( you only live once). Once again illustrating their skill at tailoring, contrasting textures and colors Preen’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection reinvents traditional classics into a symphony of edgy modern for the grown and sexy.
