We give you an up close and detailed look at the backstage going ons at Alexander Wang’s Autumn/Winter 2011 NY Fashion Week presentation, as photographed by NY photographer Julia Chesky. Conceived as a men’s line the Isolde Richly Autmn/Winter 2011 collection is one we would gladly steal from the boys. Reworking traditional pieces and allowing the wearer to interpret them as they please, Isolde Richly’s blend of minimal modern chic is one we find easily covetable. Enjoy a look on the next page courtesy of Isolde Richly.
Sergio Rossi has collaborated with Alexander Fury, Fashion Director of SHOWstudio.com, to create ten cinematic studies of the Autumn/Winter 2011 Sergio Rossi women’s collection designed by Sergio Rossi Creative Director Francesco Russo.
Fury stands in as curatorial talking head, analysing the reasoning and inspiration behind ten pieces of footwear taken from Russo’s latest collection – a strikingly cross-cultural and glamorous adventure in contemporary footwear.
If like us you have a passion for the “wow” shoe take a deep breath and watch these films in one sitting. The leopard print sandals with the blue fur stopped my heart…Watch all videos here and view stills on the flip via Trendland. This goes on my list of best fashion films to date.
Sonny Vandevelde gives us his always humorous look at the backstage ambiance during fashion week. This time enjoy a look at Manish Arora’s Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011. Since Arora’s appointment as the creative director fo Paco rabanne we’re curious to see if his collection will finally have the recognition it deserves. Style.com only started documenting his runways in fall 2010, when the label is over a decade old and Vogue UK’s goes as far back 2006. Just some interesting observations…
Jun Takahashi’s Autumn/Winter 2011collection not only illustrates his uncanny ability to create unique looking pieces to be desired, but also a consistent focus on outerwear that has been a recurring theme on many runways. Lots of furry and plushy textures with a street edge and distinction and of course unexpected details . The cat clutch above kind of did it for me. Complete looks on the flip via VogueItalia.
Designer Hussein Chalayan as sponsored by Swarovski, presented his Autumn 2011 collection in the form of a film, featuring a floating dress. Inspired by Japan and its evolution from a closed off country to one more receptive to outside ideas, the presentation is called “Kaikoku,” which translates to open country. In this video, the designer explains the creative process. It’s fascinating because unlike a lot of artists Chalayan is quite articulate in explaining his ideas, and it makes one realize that so much of the success of artists is not only that they have other worldly visions, but they are able to make them a reality because they’re not deterred or simply don’t care if everyone else thinks they seem crazy or strange.
If you want to see the dress in isolation, visit Ashadedview. On the next page, the actual presentation.
