Hasan Hejazi ’s aesthetic for  evening wear is one we’re definitely smitten with. The young label consistently focuses on a sleek, body conscious silhouettes with just a few futuristic details, that pop. We visited Catherine Malandrino’s showroom last week and got a look-see at both her Malandrino and Catherine Malandrino lines. Designer Malandrino’s talent, which we appreciate greatly, is her ability to design garment after garment that subtly celebrates the power of grown-woman sexiness. The designs are complex yet somehow still easy and relaxed. While there, we snapped images of the shoes and some of the accessories for Autumn 2011. Malandrino takes some very current silhouettes, but makes them special with braided leather. Shot by the adorable William Yan, we had to give you a second look at the Levi’s presentation highlighting  their upcoming collections. While the women’s looks were as usual sleek and timeless,  the big buzz was generated by their new “Commuter Cycling” series, designed for the  ever increasing number of dudes on bikes (ladies coming soon hopefully). The cutie above was chilling in a tub rocking the Levi’s “Waterless” collection. More on the next page.

Levi’s staged a presentation of their Autumn 2011 men’s and women’s collection in a fun setting last night, allowing the ease and the comfort of the be apparel to be expressed. The presentation was complemented by an appearance by performance artist the Bumbys who unapologetically typed their thoughts on the attendees looks (That was fun). The featured denim was dark, mostly slim with sleek stand outs like a short sleeved jumpsuit you will see on the flip. Images via Jacob Breinholt.

Devoted to creating fashion that asks the big questions, Samia Malik launches her latest Ihtgw collection titled “Collection :1 Female Islamic dress code & Intergration.” The capsule collection of separates is presented as an observation of  women’s islamic apparel conception, controversies and traditions. 

 ”..By 2011 it appears that Muslim women choose to wear the Hijab to show their respect for God, others may wear it because it’s ‘trendy’ without adhering the initial purpose of the Hijab, i.e some women make the Hijab look glamorous. Others  yet may wear Hijab for cultural reasons, rather than religious reasons. However I am not making any judgments about why people choose to wear Hijab, I am only stating a few obvious observations.”

Theatrical like only she can, Andrea Crews presented her ‘Les Morts Vivants de La Mode’ ( Walking Dead of Fashion) Collection earlier this month in Paris. Enjoy !

Sang A Im-Propp created her Sang A. handbags line about  five years ago with an distinct aesthetic rooted in exotic skins and  über functionality .  The Autumn/Winter 2011 collection features  skins as well as a  special custom polka dot leather pattern design . The bag silhouettes include stunning interpretations of her signature  pop bag as well as , clutches , sling bags and the convertible ”Out” bag (above), which converts  from a messenger to a backpack with various interpretations in between. For Autumn/Winter 2011 Kai- aakmann designer Soonjin Park draws inspiration from the “non-place-a necessary connective space towards somewhere else.” Slightly androgynous, we admire the  flawless functionality of the assortment,  where all the pieces are suitable for the often harsh environment of big cities  so many of us call home. On the next page a closer look at the women’s looks including the faux shearling above that is of course a want.
