The Giuliano Fujiwara label  is adored in menswear for its precision,  innovation of silhouettes and textures coupled with simplicity. The women’s collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 is sleek in design with concepts of balance, attention to detail remainning consistent. Fujiwara’s version of femininity is one we definitely believe in. Christian Louboutin designed the footwear worn on Marchesa’s 2011 runway collection, presented during New York Fashion Week last week. Look closely, the shoes are actually mesh, not a first for Louboutin, but somehow these wonders take his gift for sexualizing toe cleavage to new heights. And then the nylons……..the heart breaks! Putting aside for now the clothing side of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Autumn 2011 collection (which seem to have received quite the positive reception), lay your eyes on the footwear featured in the runway presentation. While the platform silhouette is nothing new, the materials story elevates the shoe to one of pure delight. Armani Prive’s collection certainly did it’s part to contribute to what is emerging as a bit of theme for the Autumn 2011 couture collections–that is, slick ballroom, as defined by gorgeous gowns and dresses made a little badass via jewel-colored cigarette pants, pointy toed satin pumps (above right), architectural jewellery (above left) and clutches. And like they often are for Autumn, jewel tones were in abundance, but they weren’t rich and cozy as much as defiant and statement making (like Armani’s plum-colored lipstick). All in all, a nice pivot away from the punky looks that have dominated fashion…moving ahead while tipping a hat to that which brought you to party. More Armani accessories on the next page.

We learned via Thecut that Moschino added rugby players to the usual model mix for its Autumn 2011 rumway presentation. Just like some guys wish for more curve on  supermodels, we often look at those beautiful chiseled runway faces and secretly dream about their bods being a bit beefier…more manly and less boyish. Thus it was a fun excercise to try and guess which were models and which were rugby players. Not as easy as one might guess because athletes are generally trim. However, those thick necks and thighs, besides being dreamy, seem distinctly rugby-ish! See if you don’t agree with the rest of our rugby lad picks on the next page.

Women hoping to get a preview of Burberry’s Prorsum’s women’s collection are tuning into the men’s Autumn 2011 collection to gets hints of what’s to come in outerwear, which was a big strength for the label last season. Speaking to the rugged outdoor trend, plaid is the order of the day and yes, there’s lots to covet, but ehh, could there not have been a bit more in the way of sheepskin detail or anything for that matter to turn the wattage up a bit? Or maybe it’s best to let the men be men and hold back judgement until the women’s collection is actually presented. See more outerwear via Style on the next page.

Tory Burch, whose shoes and bags are always high on the Snobette fave list, receives more mixed reviews when it comes to her clothes. Influenced by a combination of bohemia and high society, we always like her more when the hippies win the design battle in her head, as it appears they did for her pre-Autumn 2011 collection.
